⭐ NHTSA NCAP Crash Test Ratings

New Car Assessment Program

NCAP crash tests measure how well a vehicle protects occupants in controlled frontal crash, side crash, and rollover scenarios. Stars are awarded per category (5 = safest). These laboratory results are independent of owner complaints and are performed by NHTSA engineers on new production vehicles.

NCAP crash test ratings for this model are not yet loaded or this vehicle was not tested in the years analyzed. NHTSA tests a subset of new vehicles each year. Check nhtsa.gov/ratings directly for the latest results.

VISIBILITY/WIPERMay 2021

I BOUGHT MY CAR IN SEPTEMBER OF 2020. SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN 4000 MILES. THIS VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN AROUND MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND THROUGHOUT MY CITY, NEVER ON THE HIGHWAY OR FREEWAY. I ONLY USE MY LEXUS TO BUY GROCERIES AND TAKE MY KIDS TO SCHOOL. THE CITY OF DEARBORN STREETS ARE CONSTANTLY CLEANED, AND THERE ARE NEVER ANY SEMI-TRUCKS. WHEN I AM NOT DRIVING MY LEXUS, IT STAYS INSIDE MY GARAGE. I WASH MY LEXUS EVERY WEEK, AND I NEVER DRIVE IT IN HARSH CONDITIONS. BUT I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY WINDSHIELD THREE TIMES, AND IT HAS NOT EVEN BEEN A YEAR SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE FIRST TIME I GOT A CHIP ON MY WINDSHIELD, I ONLY HAD 112 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I DID NOT DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY; I ONLY DROVE TO THE SUPERMARKET NEXT TO MY HOUSE. I WAS VERY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I HAVE NOT EVEN HAD THE CAR FOR A MONTH. I DID SOME RESEARCH, AND I CONCLUDED THAT OTHER LEXUS LX 570 HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR WINDSHIELD; THE WINDSHIELD CRACKS VERY EASILY. A WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT COMPANY CAME, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO FILL IN THE CHIP TO PREVENT IT FROM SPREADING. BUT THEN, A WEEK LATER, THE WINDSHIELD HAD ANOTHER CHIP. WE THEN HAD TO PAY FOR THE COMPANY TO COME BACK AND FILL IT IN. TWO AND HALF WEEKS LATER, I TOOK MY CAR TO A CAR WASH. EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MORNING WHEN I WOKE UP TO FIND A SIGNIFICANT CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF MY WINDSHIELD. WE HAD TO PAY THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THE WINDSHIELD TO BE REPLACED. THE COMPANY REPLACED IT WITH AN ORIGINAL LEXUS WINDSHIELD WHICH CAME STRAIGHT FROM THE LEXUS FACTORY. I DECIDED NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS, AND I LEFT IT IN MY GARAGE. THEN WHEN I FINALLY DROVE THE CAR, IT GOT ANOTHER CHIP ON THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WERE NO TRUCKS IN FRONT OF ME, AND THE WEATHER WAS PERFECT. JUST YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING FROM KROGER, A CRACK RUING FROM THE TOP HALF OF MY WINDSHIELD APPEARED. ## VIN PASSED ## LEXUS 2020 ##

SUSPENSIONJan 2026

My 2025 Lexus 700H F-Sport Bounces or wobbles when in Econ or Comfort. The suspension feels like bad shocks or springs. The Bouncing is so bad on highway turns that the driver must slow down over bumps to prevent the SUV from Bouncing off the road. At night one can easly see the wobble or bouncing of the SUV lights. I have made 3 trips to my Lexus Dealer, Jim Hudson Lexus in Columbia, SC. The last visit my truck was evaluated by a Field Technical Specialist, Mr Matt Hennessey. Matt stated this is the way they come to the Dealership. His solution was for me not to drive in Econ or Comfort or sell the vehicle.

I own a Lexus Lx600; when I Stop the car, it is still in the drive or reverse position( or mode), then press the engine button, and the engine will turn off. so, if you are parking a car uphill it is very dangerous; with no warning and no safety mechanism, the car starts rolling, and the driver can be in the middle of getting out, I explained to the dealer, and they verbally explained to me how the Lexus LX600 was designed. It is very dangerous, and someday, one can lose one's life because the Law allows it. This should be prohibited by Law. My Old Honda Pilot 2013, that have this future.

This totally takes you out of the GPS app. Loss of the GPS app while driving in a full freeway in busy traffic is potentially life threatening. Not only that clearing this PIN request the driver finds the GPS App gone. The driver is requited to cancel out of the demand for a β€œ6 digit PIN number only to find this screen obtrusive screen only pop up at infinitum. This puts the driver and other traffic at risk. I have informed the local Lexus dealer but they do not offer a solution for this hazard. No warning lamps Dealer aware

SERVICE BRAKESOct 2025

At approximately 4,588 miles on my 2024 Lexus LX 600 (VIN: [XXX] , built May 2024), the orange brake system warning light (exclamation mark in a circle) illuminated on the dashboard while the vehicle was parked and running. No prior braking issues, unusual noises, or loss of pedal feel noticed. The light stayed on steadily after restart. This matches symptoms in Lexus TSB L-SB-0022-22 (DTC C1391: Abnormal leak in brake accumulator/accumulator assembly). It disables ABS, VSC (Vehicle Stability Control), brake hold, and other safety features, posing a potential risk in emergencies or low-traction conditions (e.g., off-road use). No crash or injury occurred. Vehicle is under warranty; planning dealer service for actuator replacement. Dashboard photo available if needed. ENGINEMay 2026

Purchase Date of LX600: 10/26/2023 Date of Incident: 12/21/2025 While driving home (at about 65 MPH) the vehicle gave an alert on the dash which said Pull Over - Vehicle Losing Power and Shutting Down. Once this alert appeared on the dash, we had approximately 30 seconds to find a safe spot to pull over. The road that this happened on is a one lane road in each direction in a rural zone that is highly traveled by Semi Trucks. Luckily, there was a gravel spot on the road where we were able to stop the vehicle, just in time to avoid a catastrophe. On 12/22 we took vehicle to Lexus of Wesley Chapel where it currently is today. The Service Advisor (Sierra) confirmed this is part of the recall #25V767. Sierra stated she would contact us in 2-3 weeks for the next steps. Once this time passed, no update was provided and we reached out to the dealer again to be told they are still waiting on "corporate" for a response. We were able to get in contact with Israel - who was designated as our case manager from the Lexus Corporate Office on February 6th. He told us the only option we had was to wait an indefinite amount of time - it could be 6 months, a year or more. After this interaction we spoke to various people at the dealer and same answer was given. While everyone we speak to agrees a new engine is needed - no process has begun to fix the car. We are now in May and still not a step closer than I was on that night where I was stranded on the road.

ENGINEMar 2026

I am writing to report a concern regarding an unresolved safety recall for my 2023 Lexus LX 600. Lexus notified us of this recall on November 6, 2025. However, nearly four months later, the company continues to state on its website that no remedy is currently available. Given the significant purchase price of this vehicleβ€”exceeding $100,000β€”I find it unacceptable that a resolution has not yet been provided. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and that appropriate action be taken to ensure a timely and effective remedy for affected customers.

ENGINEFeb 2026

I am filing this complaint regarding the handling of Safety Recall 25LA07 (NHTSA Recall ID 25V767) affecting my 2023 Lexus LX600. On January 2, 2026, I delivered the vehicle to the authorized Lexus dealer in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in response to the recall, which identifies potential engine knocking, rough running, engine no-start, and/or loss of motive power. These conditions represent serious safety risks. Since that date, the vehicle has remained at the dealership. More than five weeks have passed, and neither the dealer nor Lexus has provided a definitive remedy, technical instructions, or a timeframe for repair. We have been told they β€œdo not yet know” whether the solution will involve reprogramming or full engine replacement. In short, there is no clear plan or expected completion date. Because the manufacturer has acknowledged a potential engine malfunction and the increased risk of crash, my wife does not feel safe operating the vehicle. The general manager told us to keep driving the vehicle until there is any signs of malfunction of the engine, however after consulting legal counsel, we were advised not to retrieve the vehicle until the defect is fully corrected and certified as safe. Although Lexus provided a Mitsubishi rental vehicle, it is materially inferior to the LX600. Meanwhile, I continue making substantial monthly payments to Toyota Financial Services for a vehicle that has been unusable since January 2, 2026. The manufacturer is covering the rental cost (approximately half of my monthly payment), but I remain financially responsible for a luxury vehicle that cannot be used and for which no repair timeline exists. I respectfully request that NHTSA review whether the manufacturer is meeting its obligation to provide a timely and effective remedy for this safety recall. I am prepared to provide supporting documentation upon request.

ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMFeb 2026

Description of Incident: This is a recurring safety defect that has occurred multiple times from August 2023 to February 2026. The following description refers to the most severe incidents: 1. NATURE OF DEFECT: The vehicle experienced a sudden "Limp Mode" event where all dashboard warning lights illuminated simultaneously, followed by an immediate loss of propulsion while in motion. Subsequently, the vehicle suffered from a dangerous 3-second acceleration lag/delay. This 2023 Lexus LX 600 creates a life-threatening risk on public highways, as the driver cannot reliably control the vehicle's speed or power to avoid collisions. 2. MANUFACTURER’S ADMISSION: The vehicle has been presented to authorized Lexus dealerships. While the dealership could not provide a permanent fix, the manufacturer’s own internal tracking system now explicitly confirms: "REMEDY: NOT AVAILABLE." This is a formal admission by Lexus/Toyota that the vehicle has a catastrophic system failure with no known fix. 3. REQUESTED ACTION: Lexus/Toyota has refused to repurchase the vehicle, forcing me to drive a dangerous asset they admit they cannot repair. I request that NHTSA immediately initiate a safety investigation into this loss of propulsion and acceleration lag issue for the 2023 Lexus LX 600, especially given the "No Remedy" status. A mandatory recall is warranted.

The contact owns a 2023 Lexus LX 600. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V767000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact called the dealer and the manufacturer and was informed that the remedy was not yet available. The contact stated that the dealer and the manufacturer offered a stipend for a rental. The contact deferred on renting a vehicle. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.

ENGINEApr 2025

My car suffered complete engine failure at 25,522 miles. Lexus claims that it is not in the VIN range of the recall. However, it is the exact same problem all other 2022-2023 LX600 are experiencing and being recalled for. Lexus is clearly minimizing the extent of the engine failure issue and my VIN is also part of the problem.

ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMApr 2025

my problem occurs intermittenly, it occurs when i am idling at a stop. when i have to accelerate from the stop the car will lurch forward and die for approximately 3 seconds. It will then restart and drive normally, however the stopping in the middle of oncoming traffic is potentially life threatening. It has occurred approx 8 times since i bought the car in June 2023. I had the ECO recall done and it also occurred shortly after that. I have taken it back to the dealer and they could not recreate the problem. It occurs after idling and waiting and then accelerating quickly to merge.

SERVICE BRAKESFeb 2025

When I applying breaks when coming to stop, hears abnormal humming noise. Sound appears to be coming from driver front seat by breaks. Every time I apply the brakes, I hear the motor actuating, and I'm so anxious and worried that the brakes might not work. The brake is a life-threatening device, so I'm very anxious. Currently, Lexus says that it is normal to make sounds and there is nothing wrong with safety, but this is not normal. And it is a brake, so it cannot be normal for safety. When I first bought the car, I didn't hear anything at all. They keep saying there's no safety issue, but I don't know when it's going to happen and I'm so nervous I remember a few years ago, a Toyota Lexus part failure to activate its brakes, killing a whole family. I hope you investigate thoroughly so that it doesn't happen again. Thank you for your hard work

These pages show model-year patterns across 10years. Enter a VIN to verify the exact vehicle's accident history, title brands, odometer records, and open recall status before purchase.

πŸ“– Understanding This Data

πŸ“‹

What is an NHTSA Complaint?

An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is β€” but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Lexus LX has 22 complaints on record across 10 model years.

πŸ””

What is a Safety Recall?

A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Lexus LX has 17 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.

πŸ’₯

What Are Crash Complaints?

Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 0 of the Lexus LX's 22 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions β€” a key safety signal beyond general reliability.

🧭

How Is the Reliability Verdict Calculated?

The reliability verdict (Good) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. This verdict gives buyers a quick interpretation before they review year-level details and VIN-level history. It should be treated as one decision input, not a substitute for a VIN-specific report.

πŸ“Š

Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?

Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable β€” simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.

πŸ”

Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN

Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Lexus LX vehicles on the road β€” not any specific car. Two Lexus LX vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.

πŸ”Ž

What Are NHTSA Investigations?

When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage β€” NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Lexus LX has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
