Crash test ratings
NHTSA NCAP crash test ratings
New Car Assessment ProgramNCAP crash tests measure how well a vehicle protects occupants in controlled frontal crash, side crash, and rollover scenarios. Stars are awarded per category (5 = safest). These laboratory results are independent of owner complaints and are performed by NHTSA engineers on new production vehicles.
NCAP crash test ratings for this model are not yet loaded or this vehicle was not tested in the years analyzed. NHTSA tests a subset of new vehicles each year. Check nhtsa.gov/ratings directly for the latest results.

I BOUGHT 2 METZELER MARATHON ME880 TIRES IN MARCH 2017 (300/35/18)(280/35/18). BOTH TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 500 MILES AND ARE CRACKING AT THE SIDEWALL. CRACKS ARE ON BOTH SIDES AND ARE GETTING DEEPER. BOTH TIRES HAVE A MANUFACTURING DATE OF 2015. HERE IS A LINK TO A FACEBOOK PAGE WITH MANY PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. HTTPS://WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/GROUPS/1871227146536817/ THANK YOU
SHIFTS VERY HARD WHEN UP-SHIFTING LOUD CLASH SOUND WHILE IN MOTION DOES THIS ALL THE TIME EVERY SHIFT. I DONT WANT TO BE REARENDED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT
I BOUGHT MY MOTORCYCLE A SUZUKI BOULEVARD M10R LIMITED 2011LIMITED NEW ON MARCH 2012. THE MOTORCYCLE HAS ALWAYS SHIFTED HARD FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. ON APRIL 18, 2015 I WAS RIDING FOR ABOUT A HOUR EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL I MERGED TO A MAIN HIGHWAY AND I NOTICED THE LOSS OF POWER AT 55 MPH . WAS STUCK IN THE A CENTER LINE WHERE CARS ARE GOING UP 70 MILES. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PASS A CAR BUT THE BIKE WAS LOOSING POWER RAPIDLY IT WAS NOT GOING FASTER THAN 40 MPH. I TRIED SHIFTING UP AND STARTING HAVING PROBLEMS SHIFTING . I WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD . THE MOTORCYCLE ENGINE CUTOFF AS SOON I BRAKED. I TOOK THE BIKE TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THE CLUTCH AND THE CLUTCH BASKET WERE GONE DUE TO LOOSENING BOLTS. SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR THE CAUSE AND I DISCOVERED SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. WHEN SUZUKI WILL FIX THE PROBLEM? THIS REPAIR WILL COST ME AROUND $1500.00. *TR
THE MOTORCYCLE IS VERY HARD TO SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CLAIM THE CLUTCH IS ADJUSTED CORRECTLY. I WAS EVEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT IS COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SUZUKI M109R CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION. BECAUSE OF THE SHIFTING PROBLEM SOMETIMES I AM AFRAID THAT A CAR BEHIND ME WILL REAR END ME AS IT IS SO HARD TO SHIFT FROM 1ST INTO 2ND GEAR AND THAN THE MOTORCYCLE WILL SLOW DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY. SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR SOLUTION I DISCOVERED HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. DOES SOMEBODY NEED TO DIE BEFORE THIS IS FIXED? *TR
I BOUGHT MY MOTORCYCLE MARCH 2012. THE MOTORCYCLE HAS ALWAYS SHIFTED HARD FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. JANUARY 2013 I WAS RIDING AND IT STARTED TO LOSS POWER AT 50 MPH I ALSO NOTICED ANTIFREEZE ON THE LEFT SIDE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY FIXED THE ANTIFREEZE PROBLEM . THEN THEY SAID THE CLUTCH LEVER WAS TO TIGHT SO IT WAS PARTIALLY ENGAGING THE CLUTCH. I HAD THE BIKE LESS THAN A YEAR AND HAD NOT MADE ANY ADJUSTMENT TO THE CLUTCH. IN JULY 13 I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PASS A CAR BUT THE BIKE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT GO FASTER THAN 50 MPH. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ON COMING CARS BECAUSE I COULD NOT MAKE THE PASS. I TRIED SHIFTING DOWN AND STARTING HAVING PROBLEMS SHIFTING AT ALL. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND TURN THE BIKE OFF AND BACK ON TO GET IT O NEUTRAL. I TOOK THE BIKE TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THE CLUTCH AND THE CLUTCH BASKET WERE GONE. THE CLUTCH IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IT'S GOING TO COST $1500. I DON'T THINK CLUTCH SHOULD HAVE START GIVING ME PROBLEMS IN LESS THAN A YEAR. *TR

2011 SUZUKI BOULEVARD C50T. I HAVE A HARD TIME SHIFTING, MOSTLY FROM 3RD TO 4TH AND 5TH GEAR. YOU CAN'T HEAR OR FEEL IT GO INTO THE NEXT GEAR. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO FORCE IT TO SHIFT. IF I COME TO A STOP BEFORE I DOWN SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR I HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING INTO 1ST GEAR. I HAVE TO PULL THE CLUTCH IN AND OUT TO GET IT TO SHIFT. SOMETIMES IT WILL SHIFT FROM 3RD TO 1ST BY IT'S SELF WHEN I PULL THE CLUTCH IN. THIS ALL STARTED AFTER THE FIRST 50 MILES. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE 600 MILE CHECK UP AND THEY ADJUSTED THE CLUTCH AND SAID IT WAS FINE, AND IT WAS OK FOR THE FIRST 5 MILES AND THEN IT JUST GOT WORSE ALL THE WAY HOME. I HAVE HAD A FEW NEAR CRASHES IN THE PAST WEEK AND I AM NO LONGER DRIVING IT. *TR
2009 SUZUKI C109RT MOTORCYCLE SHIFTS VERY HARD AND MAKES A VERY LOUD CLUNK AS IT GOES INTO SECOND GEAR. OFTEN IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET IT INTO GEAR. WHEN DOWN SHIFTING, YOU OFTEN HAVE TO STOP, LET OUT THE CLUTCH AND PULL IT IN AGAIN TO GET THE BIKE TO DOWNSHIFT PAST SECOND GEAR. INABILITY TO SHIFT MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR

The basics
How to read this data
Complaints, recalls, investigations — here’s what each number actually tells you about a used Suzuki Boulevard, in plain English.
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is — but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Suzuki Boulevard has 8 complaints on record across 5 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Suzuki Boulevard has 0 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 0 of the Suzuki Boulevard's 8 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions — a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the Reliability Verdict Calculated?
The reliability verdict (Excellent) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. This verdict gives buyers a quick interpretation before they review year-level details and VIN-level history. It should be treated as one decision input, not a substitute for a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable — simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Suzuki Boulevard vehicles on the road — not any specific car. Two Suzuki Boulevard vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage — NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Suzuki Boulevard has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
