I have a 2026 Nissan Rogue Platinum with Pro Pilot assist. When engaging the ProPilot cruise control with adaptive cruise control, if you are traveling on a road with stop lights and the car in front of you is stopped at a light and you car is traveling at 45 mph , if the vehicle at the light is more than a block away and you are approaching with no car icon on the dash, your car will not slow down until there is a emergency panic stop. I don't know if the car would stop in time. I applied brakes and came to a panic sideways stop inches from the car in front of me. I took my car to Woodbury Nissan and was told that that is the way the system is designed to work by [XXX] a service writer. He didn't want to discuss it further. I called the manage and he had me come in and have one of the service managers drive my vehicle. When he drove it and the car did not slow down, he had to hit the brakes. You could tell he was scared by the experience. They agreed to bring it in and test it but I knew they would do nothing. They told me there were no adjustments to ProPilot assist. Then I brought it in and left it. They called me back a few hours later and told me that they drove another Rogue and it did the same thing. They couldn't do anything for mr. I had a 2025 Hyundai SanteFe with adaptive cruise control. It did not stop like the Rogue. It slowed down when approaching the stopped vehicle before coming to a stop. If nothing is done to warn ProPilot owners of this issue, someone is going to get killed. If a car is cruising down the [XXX] and come up to one of those lights on the southern end the will never stop in time. Please let people know before people lose their lives in these vehicles. Thank you. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Vehicle Information β’ Make/Model: Nissan Rogue (2026) - purchased as a lease in August 2025 β’ Mileage: 7,810 β’ VIN: [XXX] β’ Date of incident: 4/20/26 β’ Location: Highway travel (Pennsylvania) Engine stall / sudden loss of power while driving While driving my brand new 2026 Nissan Rogue at approximately 75 mph on a highway, the vehicle suddenly and completely stalled without warning. The engine lost all power while the vehicle was in motion, resulting in an immediate and dangerous reduction in speed. There were no prior signs of malfunction before the stall. The vehicle became unable to maintain highway speed and effectively lost propulsion while in active traffic conditions. This created a serious safety hazard, as the sudden loss of power at highway speed placed me and surrounding vehicles at risk of a collision. I had to maneuver the vehicle to safety while attempting to avoid traffic. The vehicle is brand new and should not experience a complete engine stall under normal highway driving conditions. This incident raises a significant concern regarding a potential defect in engine performance, fuel delivery, transmission control, or electronic power management systems. Because the failure occurred at highway speed without warning, it represents a critical safety risk that may affect other drivers if it is a systemic issue. Actions Taken After Incident β’ Vehicle was brought to dealership / service center β’ Case opened with manufacturer (Nissan) β’ The vehicle was towed and currently getting the engine replaced I am requesting that NHTSA: 1. Review this incident as a potential safety defect 2. Determine whether similar complaints exist for this model/year 3. Investigate whether this issue warrants a safety recall or manufacturer investigation 4. Ensure appropriate corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence I am reporting this to ensure it is documented and reviewed as part of national safety monitoring. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The vehicle reads the speed limit signs improperly and the adaptive cruise control will speed up the vehicle to the improper speed limit. For instance it is 45 mph on SR 70 in TN and the vehicle will read the speed limit as 70 mph and take off up to 70 mph on it's own. Very dangerous. Took it to 2 dealers and they are unable to fix the problem.
I am reporting a recurring safety issue with the vehicleβs auto engine stop/start system. When the vehicle comes to a stop, the engine sometimes shuts off normally (other time only the auto-brakes engage, but engine stays on), but then the system behaves unpredictably. The engine attempts to restart with a violent jolt, causing the entire vehicle to shake. This occurs even when I am fully stopped with my foot on the brake. It feels like the vehicle is trying to lurch forward or restart against resistance. The issue is repeatable, happens in normal driving conditions, and creates a safety concern because the sudden jolt can startle the driver, cause unintended movement, or lead to loss of control in traffic. I believe this may indicate a defect in the autoβengineβstop system, engine mounts, starter system, or related control modules. Please investigate, as other owners may be experiencing the same unsafe behavior.
I have 2026 Nissan rogue rock creek. I opened my back driver passenger door set my purse down, closed the door and the rear windshield exploded.
The contact owned a 2026 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after arriving at her job and safely exiting the vehicle, white smoke was noticed by her manager on duty coming from under the hood. In addition, prior to the failure, the contact stated that while stopped at a red light, the vehicle had hesitated to maintain automotive after independently jolting forward. No warning lights illuminated. The local fire department arrived on screen to extinguish the fire. The source of the fire was deemed an engine compartment fire. A Police report was filed. A Fire Department report was filed. No injuries were sustained, and no medical attention was sought. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard, where it was later taken by the insurance provider and deemed a total loss. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,030.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The transmission malfunctioned when I shifted from reverse to drive. It took extra effort to put it into drive from reverse, and when it finally shifted/clunked into place it made a loud sound, literally jerking the car. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not, yet. I have an appt at 7:30 a.m. on 3/24 with Pinnacle Nissan repair, but they are not aware of this issue yet. I will add it this morning, 3/23/2026. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle is exhibiting abnormal engine noise consistent with Recall 26V080 (Engine Bearings). There is a high pitched/white noise sound that consistently increases as the car's speed increases. I have turned off the speaker sound item, and all electronics and it is still there. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The abnormal noise indicates an imminent engine bearing service (Recall 26V080), which causes a total loss of motive power and fire risk. This makes the vehicle unpredictable and unsafe to operate in traffic, especially given the documented hesitation during restarts." Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, I have an appt. on 3/24/2026 at 7:30 a.m. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No

I have versa Nissan recall 2008 and never fixed the airbag recall. On January 30, 2026, Nissan dealer selling me a SUV Nissan Roque 2026, after i changed oil, I tried driving the SUV Nissan Roque, the steering wheel kind loose and easy turning left and right uncontrolled. the door has cosmetic paint that I decided to return bc of unsafe performance and movement of the SUV. I check the VIN, The car in recall status unrepaired but Nissan dealer consider brand new.
The windshield started to ha a small crack starting in n it now itβs moving across the windshield toward the driver side and it wasnβt hit by anything
The back window randomly shattered while parked in a parking lot.
As I was parked for about 10 minutes sitting and not moving, the rear windshield spontaneously imploded.
The software for the ProSystem is flawed. When using the "lane keeping" part of the software, the vehicle, during a curve, will go to the left or right solid or dotted line, as appropriate, and exceed that limit by at least 2 feet, then sharply turn and go to the opposite solid or dotted line and exceed that limit by at least 2 feet. The vehicle will then oscillate between the two line for up to one minute with the oscillations decreasing all the while. When driving in a straight line with either solid or dotted lines delineating the lane, the steering wheel will continues to oscillate to a minor degree. I have turned the system off and do not use it. I have returned the vehicle to the dealer, Round Rock Nissan, Georgetown, TX for repair and was told the system is working correctly and do modifications are necessary. Opinion: In my opinion, the software for the ProSystem is flawed causing the vehicle to be unsafe. The software need to be recalled, rewritten, real world tested extensively and reinstalled in all vehicles equipped with this software. This should be done immediately. I am aware of at least two other vehicles with the same issue. I was driving at night at highway speed, and I turned down the brightness of the screen using the dimmer controls on the lower left side of the dash assembly. After several presses of the button from full illumination to approximately 40%, the entire instrument panel went blank, and a loud alert sounded. I lost all instrumentation for a few seconds, and then the screen rebooted. After it rebooted back at full brightness, I tried reducing it again, and the instrument panel rebooted for a second time while on the highway.
The rear view mirror shakes when driving on bumpy roads or uneven roads. The rear part of the car shimmies. The vehicle is available for inspection.I believe itβs a safety issue Yes, the issue has been confirmed by dealership Unknown if the rear view mirror has been inspected by the manufacturer The issues were noticed a few days after purchasing the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2026 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after loading items into the vehicle through the front passengerβs side, the door was closed, and the contact heard a loud sound of a glass shattering. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact discovered that the rear glass had shattered. The contact immediately called the dealer, and was referred to the Collision Center, which could temporarily tape the glass until the glass was replaced. The contact stated that after the glass was taped with plastic, the plastic popped out after closing the doors. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, where the window was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 800.
On Friday 01/02/2026 in my driveway, when closing my driver side front door of my 2026 Nissan Rogue purchased in mid-December, I suddenly heard a loud pop followed by crashing like breaking glass sound. I look around and the back rear windshield had a huge hole in the center with glass falling into the car trunk. I contacted my dealership and there were no active recalls, but searching online did fine other drivers reporting this issue on social media. I plan to have the dealership inspect the damage this week and see if it is related to other active recalls for other models.
On 11/4/25 with only 377 miles on the odometer after backing out of my driveway I put the car into drive, nothing happened initially but then it stalled out in the road way. The vehicle displayed no warning lights and it did go into drive after that point. Vehicle has yet to be diagnosed.
I am reporting an issue related to a safety recall involving the electronic throttle system on my 2025 Nissan. I scheduled two separate service appointments with Mossy Nissan Kearny Mesa (San Diego, CA) to have this recall addressed, and in both cases, the dealership failed to inspect or service the vehicle on the scheduled day. First appointment β March 6 at 8:45 AM: I dropped off my vehicle at the scheduled time and left it at the dealership for the entire day. I arranged transportation home at my own expense. At approximately 4:00 PMβover 7 hours laterβI was contacted and informed that the dealershipβs computers were down and that my vehicle had not been inspected at all. No prior notice was given, and the vehicle remained untouched for the entire duration of the appointment. Second appointment β April 8 at 2:30 PM: I scheduled a second appointment and again arranged my schedule to bring the vehicle in. Upon arrival at the scheduled appointment time, I was informed that the vehicle would not be inspected that day and would need to remain overnight before any evaluation could begin. In both cases, despite having scheduled appointments and leaving the vehicle in their possession for extended periods, the dealership did not perform even a basic inspection related to a safety recall. The recall notice indicated that the repair would take approximately one hour. Instead, I lost two workdays and incurred out-of-pocket transportation expenses without any progress on a safety-related issue. This raises concerns about the dealershipβs handling of manufacturer safety recalls and the delay in addressing a potentially safety-critical defect.

π Understanding This Data
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is β but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Nissan Rogue has 3,047 complaints on record across 10 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Nissan Rogue has 42 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 172 of the Nissan Rogue's 3,047 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions β a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the AI Rating Calculated?
The AI reliability rating (Below Average) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. The rating provides a plain-English summary for buyers who want a quick verdict without parsing raw numbers. It is one input in your buying decision β always verify with a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable β simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Nissan Rogue vehicles on the road β not any specific car. Two Nissan Rogue vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage β NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Nissan Rogue has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
Is This Data Saved in Firebase & Indexed by Google?
Yes β intentionally. When you first visit this page, our server fetches live data directly from the NHTSA public API (no key required), processes it, and caches it in Google Firebase Firestore for 24 hours. The fully rendered HTML β with all NHTSA complaints, recalls, NCAP ratings, and investigations β is then indexed by Google Search. This is by design: caching real government data in Firebase lets us serve comprehensive vehicle safety pages instantly, while giving Google Bots rich structured content to rank for searches like "Nissan Rogue reliability" or "NHTSA recalls." No personal data is stored β only public NHTSA records are cached. You can always verify everything directly at nhtsa.gov.
