We are reporting two safety-related concerns involving a new 2026 INFINITI QX60 Sport. At delivery, a linear abrasion approximately 42 inches in length was present across the front roof panel and was not disclosed prior to sale. When this condition was raised, the dealership dismissed it by text message without performing a physical inspection. At a later date, the dealership applied a coating or protection product over the roof panel despite the presence of visible damage and potential surface contamination. Due to the length, location, and linear nature of the abrasion across a primary roof panel, we are concerned the damage may be consistent with transport-related strap or tie-down contact, raising questions about panel integrity, corrosion protection, and the vehicleβs condition as represented at sale. We are also reporting a child safety equipment concern. The dealership applied a chemical interior or fabric protection product while child safety seats and/or booster seats remained installed in the vehicle. The seats were not removed, and no warning, consent, or disclosure was provided. Child restraint systems are federally regulated safety devices, and chemical exposure β including overspray or vapor β may affect harness webbing, foam, or material performance in a manner not evaluated under FMVSS requirements. We submit these concerns in good faith for NHTSAβs safety review and tracking.
Hello, When I originally leased this vehicle I had electrical issues with the radio and also an intermittent rotten egg smell. I have brought my car in for this they said they fixed the radio issue but didnβt smell the smell we were smelling in it. As soon as I got it back the same stuff was happening again. I had brought it back in for service and they said they couldnβt find anything from with it. In October I was at a shopping center and and my car wouldnβt start. I had called they told me service was closing I would need to call for a tow truck I walked home because I needed to get to my sonβs football game and picked up the other set of keys walked back and the vehicle started. I know itβs not the keys because the vehicle wouldnβt start with the phone app. Since that day 3 other times the vehicle wouldnβt start but eventually did within a few minutes. Last night as I was leaving the hospital visiting my mom my car wouldnβt open. I tried a few times and then used the app and the app was able to unlock the car doors. This is a brand new 2026 vehicle and Iβm not getting help from the service department at the dealership. Can you please advise me on what to do?
This vehicle has been to the dealership five times for the car alarm will randomly go off. This issue is hard to replicate. In the final time that I took it to the dealer, I had a rental car and what we found is that when the car is parked and itβs locked and you pull in next to it. The car alarm will go off the car was never touched. It just goes off. does it go off in that situation every single time no. So itβs at the point where if the alarm goes off, it doesnβt mean anything to me. There is no concern. Itβs like the boy who cried wolf this car just the alarm will just go off anytime itβs locked and in a parking lot or just sitting by itself I have asked Infinity corporate to get involved and they said that they have done everything to help and they are unable to fix the problem
On February 28, 2025, at approximately 8:43 a.m., while driving on Highway 3 in Alvin, TX, the panoramic sunroof glass on my vehicle suddenly and violently exploded/shattered without any warning. At the time of the incident, no other vehicles were around me, and there was no impact from debris, rocks, or any external object. Thank god my kids had just been dropped off at school or this would be a whole different situation. The explosion was extremely loud and occurred spontaneously while the vehicle was in motion. My husband was a passenger in the vehicle at the time. The sudden failure created an immediate safety hazard due to the risk of flying glass, distraction, and potential loss of vehicle control. My husband immediately looked around to note if someone threw something or if construction vehicles were around. It was a very slow quiet morning! Nothing was inside the car where the hole in sunroof appeared! There was no prior damage, no weather-related event, and no indication of stress or cracking before the glass failure occurred. After the incident, I researched this issue and discovered multiple reports from other Infiniti QX60 owners describing nearly identical panoramic sunroof glass failures, often referred to as the glass βexplodingβ or shattering outward while driving, and frequently without any impact or external cause. These reports include vehicles from 2022 and nearby model years, suggesting a recurring and known issue. Although there is currently no recall issued for this defect, the number and consistency of complaints indicate a potential manufacturing, material, or installation defect in the panoramic sunroof glass. I am submitting this complaint to formally document the incident and request that NHTSA investigate this serious safety concern, as spontaneous sunroof glass failure poses a clear risk to vehicle occupants. I am still a week later working with insurance to get this fixed. Costing me money and a vehicle I canβt drive!
The rear brake pads have been replaced every year. The first time was on 3/11/23 at 15,080 miles. The second time was on 2/24/24 at 30,279 miles. The third time they were replaced was 2/28/25 at 42,731 miles. I took the car in again on 12/05/25 and the rear brake pads needed to be replaced again. This is not normal wear and tear. The dealership told me it's a known issue and Infiniti isn't doing anything about it. There is a recall in place on the 2025 model of the QX60 and I believe there's an issue with the brake pads on the 2022 model as well.
2022 QX60 equipped with a Panoramic Moonroof. While in Florida 850 miles from home, I was traveling alone at about 35mph when I heard a loud explosion. It sounded like a gun shot at close range. I kept driving but observed my surroundings and there was no traffic, no construction, nothing overhead, no warning lights. When I got to my destination a couple miles away, I inspected the vehicle, fully expecting to see a bullet hole or shattered rear window from a bullet. What I found was the front moonroof had shattered and mostly still intact. It had blown up and out and not inward as it would if it were hit with a projectile. I contacted the nearest Infiniti dealer in Mobile Alabama 100 miles away, but they couldnβt look at it for at least 3 weeks. I covered the moonroof with heavy plastic and duct tape to keep the elements out of the vehicle and keep the moonroof intact as much as possible to help with Infinitiβs investigation. The cullet that had fallen into the sunshade was vacuumed up and kept also. After a tense 850 mile drive home, at times in torrential downpours, I contacted our local Infiniti dealer who wanted to inspect the vehicle. They informed me that their investigation could not determine a cause, but they did know it was not a warranty issue and denied it. I had the moonroof replaced by a local glass repair shop and then had to take it to a body shop to have the headliner dropped so cullet could be removed. I talked to numerous Infiniti representatives throughout this process, and everyone asked if I filed an insurance claim, I had not. Insurance should not have to pay for a manufacturer's defect that is still under warranty. As an Engineer for a tier one auto supplier that manufactures automotive safety glass for most major automobile companies, I can say with a high degree of certainty this was due to a manufacturer's defect or a design flaw. Due to the circumstances at the time, Nickel sulfide (NiS) inclusion is the most likely cause.
Our 2022 Infiniti QX60 was brought in at Infiniti Service Center for regular oil change. The car had 29,564 miles. After the service, I was deciding whether to take the highway or the local route. I thought of stopping by the church, so I decided to take the local route. After driving for 4.2 miles on a road with cars moving at 45 mph, our QX60 suddenly just stalled. The car cannot be started. Dashboard lights were fading. It was good hazard lights were still blinking. It was a terrifying experience seeing how fast cars & trailer trucks were going behind us. We had to call 911 to have a police car go behind us & avoid oncoming traffic colliding & piling on our car. We called Infiniti Roadside Assistance to help us get a towing truck to bring the car back to service. The service center said that they will change the fuel injector. Take note that QX60 has had stalling issues in the past even with earlier models. Please see all the forums & complaints. We had a 2019 QX60 that just stalled after I made a U-turn on a busy street. Thank God, we are still alive after that incident. Infiniti did not find any issues when it was escalated to them. We escalated the current issue on our 2022 QX60 to Orlando Infiniti dealership & wanted to talk to the manager. Instead of a manager, we were directed to an Infiniti salesman who related his own story of having the same exact experience with his QX60 while he was driving on a 70-mph highway. He was hard selling the 2026 Infiniti QX60 supposedly addressing the stalling issues. Instead of getting the appropriate level of management to get our issue relayed, Infiniti was trying to make money out of our traumatic experience. Based on written professional reviews, there is no evidence that the changes in the 2026 Infiniti QX60 address the stalling issues in the current & previous models. We are stock to our leased QX60 that we refused to drive until November 2025. We are not risking our life by driving this car again.
255/50R20- I have done every service at the dealership except one (last one). I was told all 4 tires were worn out and they refused to rotate tires, took it to another place and was told the same. Vehicle has 27,000 and both places told me it was very unsusual. Called dealership and they directed me to bridgestone which refused to help as well claiming tires from manufacturer have no warranty. Makes no sense!
The QX60, and possibly many other Infiniti models has a serious flaw in the Apple Car Play and Android Auto features. This affects my model year of 2022 but I understand from other owners it is like still an issue on model year 2023 and 2024 and likely others. The issue is there are not adequate volume adjustments for paired phones with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. If you adjust the paired audio on the car's infotainment system for a phone call, then the next call that comes in will sound a deafining ringer volume. If you turn down the volume for a normal ringer volume then the audio volume on the call is so low you can't have a conversation. This may seem like a non issue, however, when a call comes in and the volume is at its previous level for a phone call, it is so startling it causes all passengers to jump and hold their ears. At least a half a dozen times this has startled me to the point where I inadvertanlty swerved across my lane bounder quickly trying to find the volume control to adjust the ringer down or answer the call. I have spoke to Infiniti dealers and their engineering support. They unfortunatley are denying an issue exist when it is very obvious. All other cars I have owned with Apple Car Play have not acted this way. In addition, many owners on the forums are documenting similar issues and similar reactions of inadvertanly braking or swerving. I hope someone in the NTSB will test this in an Infiniti to understand how serious the issue is
The vehicle shifts from drive into neutral intermittently. This has happed several times over the coarse of 2 years that we have had vehicle. It has occurred on both highway and street driving and is a major safety concern. We have brought it into the dealership and they could not replicate it the first time and now they are working with Infiniti to troubleshoot.
Safety issue with the Ringtone volume in the infotainment system while connected to Apple Carplay(not Bluetooth). The Ringtone volume setting is being adjusted(unwillingly) along with the call/media volume while in a phone call. Because the call volume has to be increased to a high level in order to hear the conversation, the Ringtone volume will be unintentionally increased at the same time. This cause a dangerously loud ring when a new call comes in due to the Ringtone volume stay high after the previous call. The Ringtone volume can be manually lowered after each call, but the loud ring still occur while adjusting, and defeat the purpose of such hand-free system. This issue cause a jump-scare every time a phone call is received, which could lead to an accident in certain situation. Repro steps: 1 - Start the car and let Apple Carplay connect automatically. 2 - Ensure the Ringtone volume is set to the minimum via the car's infotainment. 3 - Make a phone call using the connected phone. 4 - After the call is ringing/connected. Increase the call volume using the infotainment system's volume knob. 5 - Go back to the car's infotainment system and observe the Ringtone volume has been increased unintentionally. As I research the issue on the internet, the exact same concern has been reported and escalated to Infiniti/Nissan. There has been no resolution for the past 2+ years since the car has been on the market. Example: [XXX] resolution with my experience: Infiniti/Nissan can issue an over-the-air update and automatically set Ringtone volume back to the minimum after each call(via Apple Carplay, NOT Bluetooth) is completed. But many updates later, this issue has not been addressed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Sunroof exploded driving 70 mph and Interstate 77 in Virginia on a 73 degree clear sunny day with no other traffic around
The main screen blanked out completely Heads up display Cruise and adaptive and blind spot indicators all ceases to function Air conditioner has lost function twice since I got the vehicle Leak in rear pipes Rear hatch intermittently doesnβt close properly thus an alarm stays on Driver side mirror wonβt fold out after retraction Rear wiper goes off for not reason Lane departure is unreliable Infotainment system needs to be rebooted often
There is a manufacture's defect in the panoramic sunroof. When driving my vehicle there is a continuous creaking sound emitting from the sunroof. This has been a problem since I picked up the vehicle. After 2.5 weeks the service department has isolated the problem in the sunroof however there is a problem resolving the matter. The problem is finding a company to remove the sunroof and getting a solution from Infiniti USA
2022 INFINITY QX60. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO DEFECTIVE TRUNK DOOR. THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING EITHER A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE OR A REDUCTION IN THE PRICE OF THE DEFECTIVE VEHICLE.
With less than 2000 miles, the dash has blacked out while driving and that seems to have cleared finally. Now the hatch back will randomly open when walking near the back of the vehicle. Sometimes when the hatch is open, it will close while putting groceries in the back. It has been in to Infiniti for this and battery was replaced because they said it was bad. After a couple of days, hatch is acting up again like it has its own mind. Fortunately, it has not open while driving but warning light will come on saying it is not secure. Stop and reclose, repeat. Ugh. Infiniti is picking up tomorrow to have another look at the system. Hopefully they can repair because we love our vehicle otherwise.
The contact owns a 2022 Infiniti QX60. The contact stated that while driving above 60 MPH, the driver's side mirror would vibrate, impairing visibility of surrounding vehicles. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure also occurred while driving on rough or bumpy road surfaces. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact notified a second dealer, Ramsey Infinity (535 NJ-17 S, Ramsey, NJ 07446), who advised that it was a known failure; however, they could not assist. The vehicle was then taken to a third dealer, Edison Infiniti (842 US-1, Edison, NJ 08817), where the mirror and the mirror housing where replaced; however, the failure persisted. The third dealer informed the contact that he needed to wait until the manufacturer had developed a remedy for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed awareness of the failure. The contact was informed that he would be notified whenever a remedy was made available. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
The vehicle does start after being parked overnight. This has happened on over 15+ occasions and counting. Once jump started, warning lights appear on the dash display. Already brought it in for service 2x, battery changed 1x and the battery change solution is not working. The problem is still repeating. Vehicle is being driven sufficiently daily to charge the battery, therefore this should not be happening on a new vehicle. I noticed there has been another complaint.
No incidents. Headlight has a blackout area in the left headlight. Dealership service department could not fix.
When I'm pressing the brakes on the car at all speeds (more noticeable at slower speeds) the car jerks before it comes to a complete stop. When the car is first turned on, the cars brakes smoothly. Unfortunately, after a few times braking, the car will jerk before the car fully stops. At times , the jerk is minimal, where only I feel it. Other times, my passengers feel it and the whole car moves. Another issue I'm having with the vehicle is when pressing the brakes, the car takes a while to slow down, causing me to have to push the brakes with more force than usual, which is a problem especially driving in city streets. I took the car to the service department and they said they didn't feel what I described when they took the vehicle for a test drive. They did suggest I bring the car back if the problem continues. I'm concerned because I had major electrical problems with this vehicle already and I've only had this car for 3 1/2 months. Please help get these issues addressed. Thank you.

π Understanding This Data
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is β but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Infiniti QX60 has 238 complaints on record across 10 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Infiniti QX60 has 15 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 12 of the Infiniti QX60's 238 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions β a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the AI Rating Calculated?
The AI reliability rating (Below Average) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. The rating provides a plain-English summary for buyers who want a quick verdict without parsing raw numbers. It is one input in your buying decision β always verify with a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable β simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Infiniti QX60 vehicles on the road β not any specific car. Two Infiniti QX60 vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage β NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Infiniti QX60 has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
