UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINEFeb 2026

2021 Genesis G70 engine shutting off at stops, often linked to the Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system or, in some cases, unexpected stalls. Possibly the automatic transmission's calibration leading to rough stops, or needing to restart the car if the ISG fails to restart the engine upon releasing the brake. 2.24.26:The vehicle stopped running and would not restart a busy intersection which involves my safety and other drivers. This has happened a couple times and I have replaced the fob batteries several times just in case that was the problem. It has not been inspected because it was just involved in another incident yesterday and I have been only making it to work as I am afraid to drive it. The warning came up on the dash after the car shut off. The vehicle can be picked up and inspected at any time. I do not have another vehicle or rental option.

πŸ’₯ CrashUNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINEFeb 2026

Summary of Reported Behaviors Lurching: Commonly reported, often deemed a software/adaptive issue. Brake Issues: Commonly reported, often attributed to pad-to-rotor deposits, or in some cases, the recalled ABS module. I started my car in my work parking lot. When I put into Drive the car lurched forward aggressively. I immediately applied the brakes and they pulsated but did not stop the car. My car continued moving forward across the parking lot and right over a large railroad tie. I am very afraid of driving the car. If someone were coming across the driveway they would have hit me or if someone was walking to their car I could have hit them. I have not driven the car again since the incident so no one has inspected the vehicle. The front collision warning started coming on the day before. I did not notice it on during this incident. This car is only 5 years old and I am now terrified to drive it!

ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMNov 2024

The problem occurred while the engine was on, but I was idle in the drive thru of a local pharmacy. The car had been placed in park, but engine still running while waiting at the window. Suddenly, the car began to shake and multiple indicator lights illuminated then the car completely died. No indicator light was illuminated before this issue. I had driven the car on the interstate to and from a doctor’s appointment in a different part of town that morning with no discernible issues. The car smelled strongly of gas. I was able to restart the car to move it to a safe location for towing, but the engine struggled to start and the car continued to shake violently and more gas smell came from the car. It was turned off as soon as possible and it is now at the dealership for diagnostics and repair. There was a recent recall on my vehicle for a faulty high-pressure fuel pump. My car did not have a check engine light on and did not display the appropriate code to have the fuel pump replaced, so I only received a software update. Because the issue with the recent recall was sudden loss of power that could potentially cause a wreck, I feel that this issue is likely related to the same fuel pump problem but was missed under the previous guidance for repair. In this case, I was lucky it happened while sitting still instead of while I was on a major interstate, or I could have been seriously injured.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINEJul 2024

The contact owns a 2021 Genesis G70. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed or while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware of gasoline fumes inside the cabin. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer on several occasions; however, no failure was found. The local dealer also performed a pressure check on the EVAP system and no failure was found. The contact started to feel nauseated with strong headaches due to the gasoline fumes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTINGApr 2026

Excessive condensation in the front headlight that constitutes a safety issue during night driving. Investigation into this needs conducted. I had the passenger side replaced under warranty but now I am outside warranty and the extended coverage excludes sealed headlight components. The dealership quoted $1600.00 to replace. Excessive for a safety item that should be recalled and manufacture should be forced to correct in a recall.

πŸ”₯ FireENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMMar 2026

I went go put gas in the car but as I start driving I was riding lost power of the car I pulled over but it was a school bus behind me that the bust drive had called the police I got out the car I seen smoke from the passionate side of the car seeing smoking. So I step back seen that the motor was on fire then it started busting out the windows and tires. It burnt up the car so bad that they had go get more water. Engine & fuel pump is the components that need to be checked upon request. & not yet it haven't been expected about the insurance yet but they is going too, safety risk caught on fire.

ENGINEMar 2026

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis G70. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to maintain automotive power while the accelerator pedal was depressed. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the vehicle failed to exceed 45 MPH occasionally and went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was restarted as a temporary fix. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMFeb 2026

My vehicle is covered under Safety Recall 023G involving an ECU update, inspection for DTC P0088, and high-pressure fuel pump replacement if inspection criteria are met. The recall is listed as completed, however the high-pressure fuel pump was not replaced, and the dealer has refused replacement. Only an ECU update was performed. I continue to experience fuel pressure–related symptoms consistent with the recall condition. The dealer has declined further action and has not provided documentation showing inspection results or justification for non-replacement. I believe the recall was improperly completed, creating a safety risk due to potential loss of engine power or stalling. I am requesting NHTSA review.

EXTERIOR LIGHTINGDec 2025

The headlights will randomly start getting excessive condensation and if it gets bad enough it will affect the turn signal and render it useless. The dealer and Genesis Care both just tell me to turn on my brights for 18min to clear it up. I've already had one replaced under warranty and now the other one is doing it outside of warranty and they refuse to do anything. Today there was so much condensation my turn signal stopped working and a warning came on the dash saying to check turn signal. There seems to be weak spots on the lens behind the bumper, it happens on almost every 21+ G70 and Genesis refuses to do anything.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMDec 2025

I experience a lack of power issue when driving the vehicle and attempting to accelerate past 40-60 mph. I will floor the accelerator and the car still stalls and will not accelerate. This has been terrifying when merging onto the highway and realizing this issue is occurring, as it is sporadic and not noticeable on residential/low speed drives. In the videos I've taken, you can see the engine RPM increase to approximately 4k RPM; the gear indicator continues to show "D," indicating the RPM increase was due to a throttle-induced downshift as opposed to shifting with the paddles; and the vehicle speed fails to increase as would be expected at the necessary throttle application for the RPM to be at that level. I have taken my vehicle to to the genesis service dealership at least 5 times for this issue and it is still a recurring issue. Many genesis owners complain about this issue on forums with no resolution from Genesis.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTINGDec 2025

I was driving my vehicle when all of a sudden my passenger side headlight went out. I initially thought it was a light bulb I needed to fix. I turned the vehicle on after a few hours and the light was working again, but on occasion the light randomly turns off while I am driving. I looked online how to fix it and found multiple people with same issue and condensation build up which mine has without being damage.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMSep 2025

Vehicle: 2022 Genesis G70 Mileage at failure: ~46,000 miles Description of problem: While driving, my vehicle suddenly lost power and became unable to accelerate properly. I was nearly struck by a truck because the car lost all motive power in traffic without warning. This is extremely dangerous and could have caused a serious accident. The vehicle had already received the fuel pump recall repair in December 2024 Despite this, in September 2025 the vehicle required replacement of the fuel injectors under warranty due to failure. Safety concern: A car with only ~46,000 miles should not experience fuel system failures of this magnitude. Having both a recall repair and injector failure at such low mileage raises concerns about widespread defects in the Genesis G70 fuel system. Action requested: I am requesting NHTSA to investigate repeated fuel system failures (fuel pump and injectors) in 2022 Genesis G70 vehicles. These failures create a significant risk of crashes due to sudden stalling or loss of power.

EXTERIOR LIGHTINGSep 2025

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis G70. The contact stated that there was condensation in the headlamps. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who placed silica bags in the headlamps to absorb the condensation. The contact was informed that the headlamps needed to be replaced; however, the repair was not covered under warranty due to headlamp cracks along the seams. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 23-BD-002G (Information for Lamp Condensation); however, the vehicle was not covered under the TSB. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.

EXTERIOR LIGHTINGSep 2025

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis G70. The contact stated that there was condensation inside the passenger’s side headlight assembly after washing the vehicle. The contact stated there was a crack formed on the inside of the upper and lower headlight assembly. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, and the headlight assembly was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Recently, the contact noticed condensation on the inside of the driver's side headlight assembly. The contact saw two small cracks in the center of the upper and lower headlight assemblies. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

πŸ’₯ CrashLANE DEPARTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCEApr 2025

1. forward collision warning works sometimes at long distances, but not always at short distances 2. blind spot and parking collision warning does not always work ESPECIALLY FOR HUMANS. (there have already been three collisions with objects), Contacting the manufacturer does not help to solve the problem within three months

EXTERIOR LIGHTINGFeb 2025

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis G70. The contact stated upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact discovered water inside the headlights. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the headlights needed to be replaced. The contact stated that after the second failure, both headlights were replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred for three months. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there would be an investigation into the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure by the case manager. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

POWER TRAIN,ENGINENov 2024

The vehicle transmission went out randomly on the freeway , it’s 2022 , there was no lights indicated that anything was wrong. The vehicle is new and the manufactured doesn’t want to pay for it or help with it.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINEOct 2024

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis G70. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V528000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). However, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMOct 2024

After speaking to the Genesis dealerships closest to my residence, it was made aware to me that the recall part in question, the High-Pressure Fuel Pump, will not be able to be repaired in a timely manner due to the parts not being in stock and that the dealerships I contacted would not be able to provide service for these repairs until November 2024 (If the part is in stock at the time). The dealerships were not able to confirm when the parts would be back in stock but, regardless, they would not be able to perform services for this recall until November 2024. I am aware of the safety issues that this part has if not remedied in a timely manner so, I would like to ensure a quick resolution (Buy Back) can be completed. My vehicle has started stalling at moments of operating the vehicle and has had poor engine performance creating moments of sluggish acceleration. I have also experienced some delays in my engine starting on occasion. I feel as though this jeopardizes the safety and well being of me and anyone else who rides in my vehicle as any more wear and damage to this part could result in total engine failure leaving me without an operational vehicle and, possibly, creating an accident mid drive. I have contacted the following dealerships who both expressed that the parts for this recall are on back order and could not confirm when they would be back in stock along with the fact that they would not be able to provide service on said recall until November of 2024. Earnhardt Genesis of Gilbert - 3252 Auto Way, Gilbert, AZ 85297; (480) 517-5222 Genesis of Scottsdale - 15345 N Scottsdale Rd K-150, Scottsdale, AZ 85254; (480) 582-4443

In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while driving uphill. In addition, the contact stated that there were three minor children inside the vehicle during the failure. The contact was turned off and the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was driven without failure. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times and the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer several times due to the failure. The failure was identified, but the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V528000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and several cases were filed. πŸ“– Understanding This Data

πŸ“‹

What is an NHTSA Complaint?

An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is β€” but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Genesis G70 has 118 complaints on record across 8 model years.

πŸ””

What is a Safety Recall?

A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Genesis G70 has 15 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.

πŸ’₯

What Are Crash Complaints?

Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 10 of the Genesis G70's 118 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions β€” a key safety signal beyond general reliability.

πŸ€–

How Is the AI Rating Calculated?

The AI reliability rating (Average) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. The rating provides a plain-English summary for buyers who want a quick verdict without parsing raw numbers. It is one input in your buying decision β€” always verify with a VIN-specific report.

πŸ“Š

Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?

Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable β€” simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.

πŸ”

Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN

Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Genesis G70 vehicles on the road β€” not any specific car. Two Genesis G70 vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.

πŸ”Ž

What Are NHTSA Investigations?

When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage β€” NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Genesis G70 has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
