EXTERIOR LIGHTINGJul 2026

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis G70. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the "Turn Signal Error" message was displayed and an orange master warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the residence, where the contact noticed condensation in the passenger’s side headlight. The contact stated that the passenger’s side turn signal bulb was replaced. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, and it was determined that the passenger’s side headlight was damaged by an object. The vehicle was not repaired. The insurance company was informed of the issue and notified the contact that the issues were related to common stress factors. The vehicle was then taken to an auto body shop, where it was determined that the seals of the passenger’s side headlight had cracks or holes, causing condensation and water to enter the headlight assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that a week later, the driver's side headlight had a similar failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was determined that an impact might have caused the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a claim was submitted. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCEJun 2026

The vehicle experienced a sudden emergency braking intervention on the highway. Alert came on and it said emergency breaking with curved red arrow and the car slowed down from around 70mph-60mph. Lane assist was on but the car was not on cruise control. The problem was resolved after pressing the accelerator. I was not hit but the could have been a dangerous situation if someone was right behind me.

STEERING,WHEELS,LANE DEPARTUREApr 2026

While driving my Genesis G70 on the highway in rainy conditions, the vehicle repeatedly loses traction and hydroplanes at normal highway speeds. The car begins sliding across lanes with very little control. During a prior incident, driver-assist features (lane keeping assist) were active. Rain appeared to interfere with the sensors, and the system malfunctioned by steering incorrectly. The steering wheel became difficult to control, and the vehicle attempted to steer into another lane while traction was already compromised. The vehicle hydroplaned across multiple lanes of the expressway, creating a high risk of collision. The system’s steering input did not match driver intent and made the situation more dangerous. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop near a wall but avoided impact. After this incident, I turned off the lane keeping assist feature. However, the problem continues. On a separate occasion, while entering the highway in rainy conditions, the vehicle immediately began sliding again, indicating an ongoing traction or stability issue even without driver-assist features active. This issue has occurred more than once and creates a serious safety risk to myself and others, as the vehicle becomes difficult to control and does not maintain proper traction in wet conditions.

EXTERIOR LIGHTINGMar 2026

The headlights somehow gets condensation/moisture inside of them and when this happens it makes the turning signal faulty and not work properly. A notification pops up in the vehicle that says “check turn signal” and the turing signal does not flash properly. This has happened to my vehicle and I am part of a Facebook group and many of us G70 owners are having the same issue. The dealerships are claiming something cracked the headlights, letting moisture in. But the headlights are not cracked at all and there are an abundant amount of G70 owners having the exact same issue that is very expensive to fix. Some are even paying to get it fixed and still having the same issue after. This should be recalled to make it right and safe for drivers.

ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMMar 2026

While accelerating to highway speeds, the vehicle suddenly experienced a significant and continuous loss of power. Even with the accelerator fully pressed, the vehicle would not increase speed beyond roughly 50 mph. Based on the behavior and previous service history, the issue appears to be related to the engine, fuel delivery system, or overall powertrain. The incident created a serious safety concern for both the occupants and surrounding traffic. The vehicle could not properly accelerate, merge, or respond to normal highway conditions. Hazard lights had to be activated, and the vehicle remained in the slow lane for an extended period to avoid faster-moving traffic. The issue was consistent and repeatable throughout the drive. Multiple attempts to accelerate resulted in the same lack of response, and the loss of power persisted for the duration of the trip. The vehicle has not yet been inspected following this occurrence because when turned off and turned back on, the issue goes away and happens sporadically. It is also worth noting that the vehicle previously underwent a manufacturer-covered repair involving the high-pressure fuel pump, for which a warranty extension had been issued. This loss of power occurred after that repair was completed. No warning lights, alerts, or prior symptoms were present before or during the incident. Overall, the sudden loss of propulsion at highway speed posed an immediate safety risk, as the vehicle was unable to maintain appropriate speed or safely maneuver with traffic.

POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMFeb 2026

While driving at highway speed, the vehicle experienced a sustained loss of motive power. Despite the accelerator pedal being fully depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate beyond approximately 62 mph. Based on the symptoms and prior service history, the malfunction appears related to the fuel/propulsion system, engine, or powertrain. The vehicle is currently parked and available for inspection upon request. This failure placed the safety of the occupants and other motorists at risk. The vehicle was unable to safely accelerate, merge, pass, or respond to traffic conditions. Hazard lights were activated, and the vehicle was forced to remain in the slow lane of the highway for an extended period to avoid being struck by faster-moving traffic. The problem was reproducible and occurred repeatedly during the same trip. Acceleration was tested multiple times, and each attempt resulted in the same loss of power with no response to throttle input. The condition persisted for the entire drive. The vehicle has not yet been inspected following this incident. However, the vehicle previously received a manufacturer warranty repair involving replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump, and the manufacturer has issued a warranty extension for this component. The loss of motive power occurred after that repair. No warning lamps, alerts, or messages were observed prior to or during the failure. There were no warning symptoms immediately preceding the loss of motive power. This loss of propulsion at highway speed created a serious and immediate safety hazard due to the inability to maintain normal traffic speed or maneuver safely.

ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMFeb 2026

The fuel delivery system, specifically the fuel pump and fuel rail pressure system, has malfunctioned and continues to trigger diagnostic trouble code P0191 (fuel rail pressure sensor range/performance), despite a prior recall-related software update performed by the dealer, and the vehicle and all affected components are available for inspection upon request. While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly began stalling, hesitating, and hard jerking before losing power and entering limp mode, limiting speed to under 50 mph and forcing me to immediately pull over, which created a serious safety risk to myself and other drivers due to the sudden inability to maintain highway speeds. The issue has been confirmed by an authorized dealer through repeated diagnostic scans showing the same fuel system fault codes, and the dealer has determined the fuel pump now requires replacement, indicating the recall update did not resolve the underlying failure. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer on behalf of the manufacturer, and prior to the failure the check engine light illuminated and has remained on since, with symptoms escalating abruptly and occurring without warning, making this an ongoing and unpredictable safety issue.

CrashSERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCEJan 2026

I had heard a thumping noise in the front end when I would turn the vehicle. On the date of crash, there was a very loud pop noise, then loss of brakes and impact. Air bags deployed due to impact. Total loss.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMDec 2025

I was driving on major highway around 66.mph and the car lost acceleration and dropped to 45.mph quickly and It wouldn't accelerate when I hit gas pedal. I was almost rearended om highway because of this. I quickly pulled onto shoulder. Car is currently under manufacturer warranty and being assessed by dealership. It did generate a code P0190 upon scan. However, dealership cannot get it to replicate at this time. Pending information from dealership. My car did.not fall under first recall for fuel.pump issue but it should now. See code below.

EXTERIOR LIGHTINGNov 2025

HEADLIGHTS WITH LOTS OF CONDENSATION. APPARENTLY GENESIS HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THEIR HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT DURING THE DAY IS A MINOR CONCERN BUT CAUSING MORE ELECTRICAL ISSUE IN THE VEHICLE IS A MAJOR CONCERN, ALONG WITH HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT AT NIGHT. THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL FOR GENESIS HEADLIGHTS.

POWER TRAINJul 2025

There is a constant wheel bearing-type noise that is distractingly audible above ~40mph, and the whine is load and annoying at ~80mph, coming from the rear of the car. There is a constant droning and harmonic pulsating noise that cannot be attenuated with the car's active noise suppression technology, either. It is an otherwise wonderful car, but this whining is going to become more of an issue now that summer is here and the windows will be down. The pitch of the whine increases in frequency as the road speed increases, and right/left steering movements or accelerate/de-accelerate activities don't seem to affect the intensity of the rearend bearing noise. The ever-present noise (our mileage of just over 25k) has grown over the last ~5k miles to be rather unpleasant inside of the cabin, and our current scheduled maintenance visit did not produce a solution for the ever-present noise.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMMay 2025

The car randomly goes into LIMP mode when driving in every condition going at any speed, the car has a significant loss of power and needs to be restarted to gain power back. I have almost crashed because of this problem numerous times. Genesis dealership refuses to fix anything because the car doesn't bring back any error codes. This has happened to new and older G70s, there has also been numerous LEMON LAW buy packs under this exact LIMP mode issue being way more prevalent. I have gotten the supposed "fuel pump" recall which is what is directly affecting this issue and the problem persists. Genesis is aware of the issue and extended the dual pump warranty extensively. My car is extremely unsafe at random intervals during my daily commute. This issue is extremely dangerous and could cause a horrific crash. The car basically turns into a slug even when flooring the pedal to try and speed up, this makes merging and changing lanes on these New York highways extremely dangerous. There is an inherent problem with the design of this car in terms of how the fuel pump and fuel pump sensors operate. Genesis is aware of the issue and does nothing to fix it because wait for catastrophic failure of a competent and worse a crash that could result in a fatality.

POWER TRAINMay 2025

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis G70. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle responded sluggishly while the RPM was extremely elevated. The contact stated that the failure was more significant while attempting to exceed 30-40 MPH. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the failure could not be replicated; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was test-driven, and the failure recurred; however, the dealer later informed the contact that, upon attempting to diagnose the vehicle, the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

Chest Clip, Buckle, HarnessFeb 2025

The contact owns 2023 Genesis G70 with a NUNA Car Seat, Model Type: RAVA, Model Number: CS05105BAC, Manufactured Date: [XXX] installed inside the vehicle. The contact stated that while the car seat was occupied, the harness straps failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the harness straps unlocked independently. The contact stated that the car seat was inside the vehicle when the failure occurred. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24C002000 (Child Seat); however, the contact was informed that the failure was not confirmed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The car seat was not replaced. The VIN was not available. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMJan 2025

Dealer did not complete recall while in service Nov 15 2024, service order shows parts are on back order. After 2 months I reached out to Corp who reached out to dealer. Both copr and the dealer ended up calling back just yesterday, however the message from copr stated the part is ordered it's way but the message from the dealer stated software upgrade needs to be done first before ordering parts. But why software upgrade was never done 2 months ago while performing service? I can smell excess gasoline 5 mins after remote started and my thermometer temp spikes significantly upon start. Car has only 12k miles. I am afraid car is going to burn down and they will do everything possible to avoid repair/replacement. I'm hoping this would create a record of historical events as well as poor service performance by the dealer.

POWER TRAIN,ENGINEMay 2024

I have had my car for almost 6 months and in that time frame twice my car while driving on the highway my car went into limp mode and was not responding. I was unable to accelerate. It was almost like I wasn’t able to control my car. All lights on the dash came on. I recieved DTC error code p061b00. My car so far has 7000 miles on it and I leased it in November 2023. After shutting the car off for a while the car would go back to normal with just the check engine light and and shortly after the check engine light would go away too. I don’t feel comfortable driving my vehicle at this point. Please help with this situation

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINEMar 2024

I was driving in a parking lot and the cars engine shut off completely for 2 and 1/2 hours. I was stuck in the lane blocking traffic with hazards on.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEMJul 2023

CrashSTRUCTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCESep 2022

Unintentional acceleration - parked car crashed into garage wall, damaging front bumper and home structure. Have lost all faith in vehicle. Sensors and automatic brake failed. Car concerns have been reported and waiting 6-8 weeks for GMA to deem if it is eligible for an investigation. No loaner car offered despite being told NOT to drive the vehicle. No prior warnings. No one was home to drive the car. Very concerning.

The basics

How to read this data

Complaints, recalls, investigations — here’s what each number actually tells you about a used Genesis G70, in plain English.

01

What is an NHTSA Complaint?

An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is — but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Genesis G70 has 128 complaints on record across 8 model years.

02

What is a Safety Recall?

A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Genesis G70 has 15 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.

03

What Are Crash Complaints?

Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 11 of the Genesis G70's 128 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions — a key safety signal beyond general reliability.

04

How Is the Reliability Verdict Calculated?

The reliability verdict (Below Average) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. This verdict gives buyers a quick interpretation before they review year-level details and VIN-level history. It should be treated as one decision input, not a substitute for a VIN-specific report.

05

Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?

Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable — simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.

06

Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN

Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Genesis G70 vehicles on the road — not any specific car. Two Genesis G70 vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.

07

What Are NHTSA Investigations?

When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage — NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Genesis G70 has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
