My Cadillac has experienced a history of repeated mechanical/electrical issues and has spent extended periods of time out of service at the dealership for repairs. On today’s date, while driving at normal roadway speed, the vehicle suddenly lost all power without warning, creating a dangerous safety situation. The vehicle became extremely difficult to control and lost normal drivability functions while in traffic. I was fortunately able to safely maneuver the vehicle to a stop without a collision or injury. Due to the complete loss of power and unsafe operating condition, the vehicle had to be towed. I will get it to the dealership when they open again for business on Monday. Given the repeated repair history and this most recent dangerous failure while driving, I no longer believe the vehicle is safe or reliable to operate. I am requesting investigation of this safety-related defect and have initiated a formal buyback review request with General Motors/Cadillac.

The thermostat sensor is defaulty. While driving all of the dashboard component lights flash on and off and the vehicle loses power while driving. Called the dealership and the technician knew exactly what it was because he said this is a known issue and when I got the vehicle to the dealership they didn't need to do a diagnostic, they knew exactly what it was. A recall should have happened to avoid this.

I purchased the new 2022 Cadillac XT6 in June 2022. The first week I owned the vehicle, I was driving and I lost power and the vehicle came to a stop. The mileage on the vehicle was 134 miles. The Cadillac dealer indicated there was a failure in the engine and power train that caused the engine to lock up. The dealer/GM replaced the engine in the new car with 134 miles on the vehicle. Attached is the service report from the Cadillac dealer that replaced the engine
The vehicle's battery is discharged causing the vehicle to be unable to start. After using the jump start to start the vehicle and driving for a period of time, the vehicle's brakes failed on the highway. And many fault lights popped up.

The contact owns a 2022 Cadillac XT6. That contact stated that while driving approximately 60 MPH, another vehicle suddenly came in front of the vehicle and depressed the brake pedal, and the braking assist failed to activate. The contact immediately depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop and avoided a crash. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled; however, the vehicle had not been taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,370.
P2BB3The Engine and Transmission System is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the Fuel Management System used to maintain, control and monitor fuel consumption. If the check engine light is flashing, a misfire condition has been detected. A misfire increases vehicle emissions and could damage the emission control system on the vehicle. Please reduce vehicle speed, avoid hard accelerations, avoid steep uphill grades, and reduce any cargo loads such as a trailer.
The contact owns a 2022 Cadillac XT6. The contact stated while reversing out of a parking spot, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the fuel pump module to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Cadillac XT6. The contact stated while her husband was driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. Law Enforcement was notified of the failure and arrived to aid the driver. The vehicle was shifted into neutral and pushed to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel pump control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the part was on backorder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
The vehicle was driven into low water and the belief is tha vehicles near this vehicle created a wake which caused the engine to die. The dealer that has the vehicle advised that another vehicle same make and model need an engine replaced. For both vehicles there was no water intrustion into the passanger compartment. The water did not even come up to doors. The engine is being replaced.
I was driving south on I75 approximately one mile north of the University Exit at 2:30 PM at approximately 70 MPH when I heard a very loud bang (almost like a gunshot). I quickly surveyed the vehicle (and noted there were no other vehicles around me) while keeping it under control when I heard a second loud Bang, it was about 1-2 seconds after the first Bang. I heard a loud rushing noise after the second bang, that's when I suspected a shattered Sunroof. I exited I75 at University and inspected the damage. The Sunroof was shattered. It was fortunate that I had the sunscreen closed when the Sunroof shattered otherwise, I would have been showered with flying glass and/or lost control of the vehicle. I filed a Warranty Claim with Cadillac which was rejected a week later. I covered the cost of repair via my vehicle insurance using Crestview Cadillac to do the repair work
The contact owns a 2022 Cadillac XT6. The contact stated that while parking in a parking space with her great nephew in a booster seat on the rear passenger seat, she depressed the brake pedal and shifted into park. However, upon releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly, hit a pole, and crashed into an unoccupied vehicle located on the other side of the pole. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal and shifting into reverse, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly and crashed into an unoccupied vehicle parked behind her vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact and her great-nephew were transported to her residence with the assistance of police patrol. The contact later sought medical assistance and was informed that she had sustained muscle spams from the upper body to the chin and headaches. The contact's great-nephew did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer's autobody repair shop, Les Stanford Body Shop (24825 Trowbridge St, Dearborn, MI 48124). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 5,829.
Side view mirrors do not open when you start driving the car. They can only be manually opened by a small button on the door which is hard to find. It is easy to start driving the car with no side view mirrors and not realize you have no mirrors until they are needed.
The vehicle has experienced repeated fuel system failures. The fuel pump control module (FPCM) is a known General Motors issue on similar vehicles, but this specific vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle now displays diagnostic trouble code P2635 – Fuel Pump Flow Performance. The engine hesitates and loses power during acceleration, especially under load or when the vehicle is warm. Prior to this code, the vehicle repeatedly reported fuel injector-related faults. Four fuel injectors have already failed and required replacement, causing significant financial loss. Based on diagnosis, the injector failures appear to be secondary damage caused by improper fuel control from the fuel pump control module. This condition creates a potential safety risk due to unexpected hesitation and reduced engine power while driving. The issue appears to be related to a systemic electronic fuel control problem rather than normal wear.

I bought cadillac XT6 four months ago . Last week i noticed that car steering lock when turning right on highway over 25mph. I went to the empire cadillac of long island city (NY). Mechanic took test drive with me and even he noticed that there is some problem. After keeping my car 2 days they said they did not find anything. I ask them to change the steering motor but mechanic said they know better than me. I picked up my car and same problem is there. Locking steering on highway is very dangerous. Please help

The basics
How to read this data
Complaints, recalls, investigations — here’s what each number actually tells you about a used Cadillac XT6, in plain English.
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is — but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Cadillac XT6 has 104 complaints on record across 6 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Cadillac XT6 has 14 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 2 of the Cadillac XT6's 104 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions — a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the Reliability Verdict Calculated?
The reliability verdict (Below Average) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. This verdict gives buyers a quick interpretation before they review year-level details and VIN-level history. It should be treated as one decision input, not a substitute for a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable — simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Cadillac XT6 vehicles on the road — not any specific car. Two Cadillac XT6 vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage — NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Cadillac XT6 has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
