The contact owns a 2018 Maserati Levante. The contact stated that after parking and occupying the vehicle at her residence inside her garage, the contact noticed smoke and a ball of fire coming from the cup holder console. The contact called 911. The contact stated she did not sustain any injuries. No medical attention was required. The contact stated that a fire report was filed, and the fire department was able to extinguish the fire. No police report was filed. The contact was relating her failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V046000 (SEATS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and they informed her that the matter would be escalated for a possible buyback, and advised the contact to reach out to the insurance provider. The contact mentioned the vehicle was still at her residence. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
Was driving 65 in a 65 mph zone. Lightly drizzling. Felt something happen to passenger front tire or suspension. Car spun out of control, rolled and crashed into rocks in NM. Was recently taking my 2019 Maserati Levante in for service and front lower arms were broken. I am at about the same mileage with the 2019 (35k vs 40k on the 2018). Could this same issue be the culprit or was I supposed to receive a recall notice about faulty welding that I see has happened in other 2018 Levantes?
SO U DRIVE THE CAR AND THE DISPLAY SHOW, DISPLAY TOO HOT AND THAN SHUTS OFF. LAST MONTH I WAS MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY, THINKING I CAN JOIN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WITH THE HORSEPOWER AND SPEED I HAVE, MY CAR GOT STUCK AT 30MPH ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVE WITHOUT NO KNOWLEDGE IT WONT GO MORE THAN 30MPH AND RPM RAISED TO 6 OR 7. ITS BEEN IN SHOP FOR ALMOST 40 DAYS AND THEY ARE SAYING I LL GET IT BACK TODAY EVERY OTHER DAY. THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING. I HOPE SOMEONE DOESNT GET INTO ACCIDENT CAUSE THEY WILL THINK THE CAN JOIN THE SPPED OF THE TRAFFIC WHEN IT GETS STUCK AT 30MPH
THE RIGHT WHEEL WELL INSERT CAME UNSCREWED AND ONE OF THE SCREWS BLEW THE RIGHT REAR TIRE AS EXITING THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 50 MPH
The contact owns a 2022 Maserati Levante. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal after being at a stop sign or stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle hesitated and jerked. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact then stated that after taking the vehicle to a local dealer for a taillight recall repair and driving at an unknown speed, the service light was illuminated. The vehicle was then taken to Maserati of Newport Beach (1100 West Coast Hwy, Newport Beach, CA 92663) for a routine oil change and the service department was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the thermostat housing and coolant hose needed to be replaced. Additionally, the contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V872000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer awaiting parts. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
I purchased this 2020 Maserati Levante in 2023. The first month of driving it, it shut down in the middle of the street on Crenshaw Blvd. I freaked out and restarted it after few seconds. For the past years of purchasing this vehicle, the engine light keeps coming on and off.The camera never worked good because it would freeze, the screen would be blue, green, or red or completely blank out, with no rear view which is very dangerous. I would start the vehicle and engine light on dashboard. I called dealership and was told it happens when gas is low. I didnβt understand. I keep the vehicle 1/2 filled with gas. I keep seeing the engine light come on and goes off in one to two days. For the past 2 years. The βStart/Stop light comes on with an exclamation οΈ mark for past 8 months. I would drive for a week or so and the see the engine light back on the dashboard. I have been to dealer at Vanuys Maserati 2 times with issues. The right passenger inside frame fell off in 2024. They fixed it . They told me the screws were loose. I went back on September 30, 2025, because the engine light came on again on September 28 & 29, 2025 and the Start/stop οΈremains on. On that morning of September 30, 2025 the engine light miraculously came off. They did a diagnostic check and charged me $700 and told me I need a new reverse camera and a thermostat. So in all since 2023 of June, I have been having critical issues with camera blanks out. The engine light goes off and on. The start/stop donβt work anymore. Please help me with this issue with a thorough investigation on this Maserati Levante 2020.
While driving on the highway the vehicle shut off and would not start. All electrical power was lost.

MY CURRENT VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP STILL BEING WORKED ON FOR THE INITIAL AND PAST ISSUES NOT CORRECTED. I HAD TO BRING MY LOANER VEHICLE OF SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR BECAUSE THE LOANER HAD SIMILAR ISSUES TO MY OWN VEHICLE . THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH MY WIFE AND CHILD IN A BUSY INTERSECTION( IN MOTION) AND WOULD NOT START FOR OVER 20 MINS . SHE COULD NOT EVEN GET THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY ( VEHICLE WOULD NOT ALLOW) . I RETURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ( STALLING TWICE ON THE WAY BUT THANKFULLY IT RESTARTED AFTER A 5 MIN SHUTOFF) . GOING BACK TO MY VEHICLE STILL IN REPAIR WHEN THE TECHNICIAN BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INSIDE AS IT WAS RAINING OUTSIDE THE DAY I RETURNED THE LOANER THEY FOUND THE REAR PASSENGER AREA OF MY VEHICLE UNDER REPAIR JUST FOUND WATER INFILTRATION IN THE INSIDE ELECTRICAL AREAS ADJACENT TO BATTERY ETC AND PANELS OF THE VEHICLE . I ALWAYS NOTICED MY VEHICLE ALWAYS HAD A MUSTY SMELL AND THOUGHT MAYBE THE KIDS SPILLED SOMETHING BUT COULD NEVER GET IT TO GO AWAY . ASIDE FROM SHORTAGES FROM INSIDE WATER INFILTRATION WE ARE NOW CONCERNED WITH MOLD GROWTH IN THE FABRIC AND INTERIOR BODY PANELS NOW KNOWING THIS WAS AN ISSUE . THERE IS COMPOUNDING ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED WITH OTHER ISSUES BEING ADDRESSED SUCH AS ABNORMAL CONDENSATION IN HEADLIGHTS , WINDOW PANELING AND TRIM COMING LOOSE ETC. THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT WAS A BATTERY ( DOESN'T MAKE SENSE) ISSUE BUT THESE ISSUES TAKE AWAY ALL LIFE SAFETY MEASURES AND VEHICLE CONTROL , ONE TIME IS TOO MANY AND WE REFUSE TO PUT OUR CHILDREN IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL ONLY A YEAR OLD REQUIRING SO MUCH REPLACEMENT AND ITEMS FAILING THAT CAN RESULT IN BODILY INJURY OR DEATH DUE TO THE VEHICLES SYSTEMS FAILURE AND MOTOR CONTROL ( BRAKES, THROTTLE CONTROL, POWER STEERING AIR BAG LIGHTING , SUSPENSION AND WINDSHIELD WIPER)
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GOES CHAOTIC. FOLLOWED BY THE VEHICLE LOOSING POWER STEERING, ENGINE CONTROL, AIR BAG FAILURE, THE BRAKES RESETS AND AT SLOW SPEED THE VEHICLE TRIES TO ENGAGE THE EM BRAKE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO JERK AND STOP DURING MOVEMENT THIS HAS BEEN SCARY WHEN IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT COMING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. OTHER ISSUES IS NOW THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTS AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS DO NO FUNCTION AT ALL IN WHICH I CANNOT DRIVE WHEN IT RAINS. MY SCHEDULE SERVICE IS JULY 15 (CALLED JUNE 23RD) BUT WHEN DESCRIBING THE ISSUES NO SENSE OF URGENCY HAS BEEN TAKEN.I HAVE SUBMITTED PHOTOS AS EVERYTHING I HAVE IS VIDEO OF THE SITUATION. IN SUMMARY THE CAR SEEMS TO BE HAVING COMPLETED ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF EQUIPMENT.
BACK PASSENGER SEAT BELT WILL NOT LATCH PROPERLY, IT CLICKS IN BUT DOESNT LATCH. COMPUTER SYSTEM SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY REQUIRING THE CAR TO BE SHUT OFF, LOCKED FROM FOB AND OPENED/STARTED AGAIN. ALARM GOES OFF RANDOMLY

Iβve owned this car since Jan 2021. Throughout this time the car will show the exact problems mentioned in the Maserati Recall 338. The car will shut off while Iβm in traffic, or if Iβm slowly going through a yield sign the car will unexpectedly shift into neutral. Iβve tried talking to my local Maserati dealer over the years and all they keep saying is no, you have no open recalls. My car is doing exactly what the recall was for. All I want is a remedy. Iβm getting nowhere, they want to charge me $300 to do diagnostics. My car was manufactured 9/2016 which is of the same time of the recalled vehicles. β Maserati S.p.A. and MNA have determined that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety exists in model year 2017 Maserati Levante S vehicles and Levante vehicles. Maserati S.p.A. and MNA have determined that the above described vehicles were manufactured with an engine software issue. Specifically, if the vehicle is being operated at speeds of approximately 2 miles per hour (low engine RPM), which can be encountered during heavy stop and go (bumper to bumper) traffic conditions, the transmission may shift into neutral or possibly have an engine shut down condition, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.β This quote is from your own website, yet I canβt get any remedies from Maserati. This needs to be known that all affected cars were not recalled. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE IVE OWNED THE CAR. IT STILL HAPPENS TODAY. Iβve nearly been Tboned in traffic because my car switched to neutral. Help. I feel like this is falling on deaf ears. Several of these cars are now coming up for sale on the used car market and people need to know that these cars are dangerous.
I was driving and I heard a loud noise the axle broke causing me to lose control and crash into 2 park cars. I at first thought I was hit by another car but upon further research I discovered I was not hit. When we purchased the car we were told there were no prior accidents or repairs. The accident revealed various parts of the car to have bondo proving prior repairs were done. We were deceived into buying this car. If we were not lied to and were told the truth about prior repairs we wouldβnt of bought the car. The car is completely totaled now. This is FRAUD
The contact owns a 2017 Maserati Levante. The contact stated while driving the arrived at a stop sign, the vehicle parking brake would engage randomly. The contact was unsure if any warning lights had been illuminated. The contact mentioned that the failure almost caused her vehicle to be rear-ended during ongoing traffic. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer did not provide a clear understanding of what needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
While driving at low speeds, under 5mph, the car will shift itself into neutral. This happens while slowing, coasting, or slow accelerations. This has caused an immediate safety issue as you lose control of the car, especially when the shift into neutral is a hard shift. This hard shift will cause you to loose traction on wet, icy, or snowy surfaces. Although this is a known issue for this model and year, the vin for my specific vehicle shows of no recalls yet the problem persists. I am listing a date of yesterday as this is the most recent occurrence, though I have experienced it for the 2 years that I have owned the vehicle and it has been reported to the used dealership that I purchased it from. There is no longer a Maserati dealer or service center in Alaska. I have been in touch with other owners here in Alaska that have experienced the same issue.
on or around 12 october, my levante 2017 with 85 k mileage, started showing check engine light. i called the dealership the next day. the car stalled on the highway 3-5 times before i got to the dealership. i was told that the engine is dead and the car is NOT drivable anymore. This is a safety issue. stalling on a major highway can be dangerous. There are 3-4 other cases (online searching) whose same levante 2017 model had the same issue at very low mileages. The engine on that model is faulty and maserati of north america should be held accountable and recall so that it does not become a serious issues with other drivers still on the road. I now have to pay 38k to replace the engine being ordered from Italy. Maserati of north AmΓ©rica will not help me with this. They should recall this model to check the defect in their twin turbo engine.
I have owned this car for over 2 years now. It has been plagued with issues with the Stop/Start feature on the car. When Iβm in heavy or slow traffic the car will shut off and may not restart like itβs supposed to. It will sometimes shift into neutral or park and I will have to scramble to press the engine start button then shift the car back into drive. This will also happen whenever Iβm approaching a yield sign where I may not be making a complete stop. I will be slowing down and the car will go into the stop/start and shut off and may not restart and may not be in drive when Iβm basically rolling out into traffic. The Maserati website says that my vehicle was recalled for an issue that it seems like Iβm consistently having however Maserati website for checking vin recalls days that my car has been repaired. Iβve complained to the dealer when I took the car in for service and all I get from them is β Turn the stop/start feature off every time you drive the carβ. This is a hassle because I have to scroll to menu #6 to do so. If Iβm in a hurry, I may forget. Iβm so scared my car is going to kill me. We have had several close calls especially in the yield situations. I feel like something needs to be done. There are other Levante owners in my year that are having the same issue. Maserati has not fixed this problem. It is still happening today. Iβm including a picture off of social media that was posted today. Iβm not alone here. Please help.

π Understanding This Data
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is β but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Maserati Levante has 27 complaints on record across 10 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Maserati Levante has 12 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 2 of the Maserati Levante's 27 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions β a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the AI Rating Calculated?
The AI reliability rating (Below Average) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. The rating provides a plain-English summary for buyers who want a quick verdict without parsing raw numbers. It is one input in your buying decision β always verify with a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable β simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Maserati Levante vehicles on the road β not any specific car. Two Maserati Levante vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage β NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Maserati Levante has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
