Shortly after purchase the dash board begain to display warning lights. Then suspension warnings. The pump for the air bag suspension stopped working. The cars ride height was bellow the bumpers & seemingly had no shock activity. I stoped driving it because it said i could cause extensive damage if it continued to be on the road. I replaced the pump/compressor & it appeared to have been fixed. About 3 weeks later, the same thing happened & the new compressor stopped adjusting ride height. The car us currently not drivable. It has been parked until I can resolve this reoccurring problem.

THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE WHERE THE WATER WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO CONCERNED THAT ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS IN THE VEHICLE COULD BE AFFECTED BY WATER INTRUSION INTO UNSEALED ELECTRICAL PORTS OR PLUGS. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
2009 LAND ROVER LR3. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT COME OUT OF FIRST GEAR. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR INVOICE, THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN FOUND BROKEN BOLTS IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. *JB
The fuel tank is structurally compromised due to premature deterioration of the component holding it in place on the vehicle including the tank guard rusting through.
STATIONARY - ONE OF THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE IS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH SOME OF THE PARTS. NOT SURE IF THIS IS SOFTWARE UPGRADE REQUIRED OR WHAT THE ISSUE MIGHT BE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 LAND ROVER LR3. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE "VEHICLE FAULT SYSTEM SHUTTING DOWN" INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL CODES COULD BE SEEN USING A DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (LAND ROVER OF NEW ORLEANS 4032 VETERANS MEMORIAL BLVD METAIRIE, LA, 70002); HOWEVER, THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VARIOUS INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LAND ROVER DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
ON 3/11/14 THE SUSPENSION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP WHO HAD THE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT FOR LAND ROVER (THE CLOSEST DEALER IS 3 HRS AWAY). THE DIAGNOSTIC INDICATED THAT THE COMPRESSOR FOR LEVEL CONTROL WAS FAULTY. THE DIAGNOSTIC INDICATED "RECOMMEND COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENT WITH UPDATED COMPRESSOR". THE REPAIR SHIP INDICATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE SEVERAL OF THESE. I THEN CONTACTED THE DEALER IN JACKSONVILLE TO DETERMINE IF THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL. THEY REPLIED NO THAT THEY ALSO HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THIS WITH THE "UPDATED COMPRESSOR" AS THE ORIGINAL FACTORY INSTALLED ONES HAD A DESIGN FLAW. THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS CHANGED SO THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT OCCUR AGAIN. I THEN CONTACTED LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICAN TO DETERMINE IF THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR. THEY REFUSED. I HAD THE COMPRESSOR REPLACED BY MY LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP FOR $1, 200. I DO BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOT A NORMAL DEFECT THAT WOULD BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT THIS SHOULD NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR A FACTORY INSTALLED DEFECTIVE DESIGNED PART. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR SHOP THAT THE SYSTEM COULD FAIL COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING , WHICH WOULD THEN BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I NOTICED ANOTHER COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED ON NHTSA ID#10564234 WHERE THIS OCCURRED. AS MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS THE MAIN DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE, I WAS VERY CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY SHOULD THIS OCCUR WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. I WOULD HOPE THAT NTSB WILL INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AND DETERMINE FROM LAND ROVERS RECORDS, HOW MANY OF THESE HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED, WHAT THEIR INTERNAL ENGINEERING/QUALITY CONTROL RECORDS SHOW ABOUT THIS DEFECTIVELY DESIGNED PART, AND WHY THEY DID NOT RECALL ALL THE VEHICLES WHICH USED THE ORIGINAL PART THAT WAS LATER CHANGED. *TR
WHILE OPERATING MY LAND ROVER LR3 AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED, APPROXIMATELY 55-65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER TO THE EAS (ELECTRONIC AIR SUSPENSION). WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE LOST ALL PRESSURE IN AIR SYSTEM WHICH MAINTAINED A SAFE RIDE HEIGHT AND STABLE HANDLING. ONCE THE VEHICLE LOWERS ITSELF ONTO THE BUMP STOPS IT IS LITERALLY RIDING ON THE FRAME.I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTION GIVEN BY THE IN-DASH WARNING SYSTEM AND SLOWED THE VEHICLE TO A STOP, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE VEHICLE REGAINED IT'S PROPER RIDE HEIGHT MOMENTARILY AND AGAIN LOST PRESSURE TO THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM. THE SAFETY ISSUE AT QUESTION IS IF THIS SHOULD HAPPEN TO A YOUNG OR INEXPERIENCED DRIVER OR THE IN DASH WARNING SYSTEM FAIL SIMULTANEOUSLY AN INDIVIDUAL COULD FIND THEMSELVES IN A VERY DANGEROUS OR POSSIBLY LIFE THREATENING POSITION. IF THE VEHICLE DROPS ONTO THE FRAME IT IS TRAVELING WITHOUT SUSPENSION AND CAN QUICKLY PRODUCE AN OUT OF CONTROL VEHICLE AT A NORMAL RATE OF SPEED ONE COULD EXPECT ON THE NATIONS FREEWAYS. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I HAVE LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND HAS UNTIL NOW BEEN A SAFETY ISSUE SIMPLY OVER LOOKED BY NTSB, I HOPE WITH THIS NOTIFICATION AND CONSUMER CONCERN NTSB WILL TAKE ACTION AND HOLD LAND ROVER ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE TRAVELING THE ROADS OF AMERICA TODAY. AN IMMEDIATE RECALL SHOULD BE EXECUTED ON ALL LAND ROVER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE ELECTRONIC AIR SUSPENSION AND REPAIRS/REPLACEMENT SHOULD BE LEVIED ONTO LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA UNTIL ALL OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN EFFECTIVELY REPAIRED. HELLO , I AM A FORMER US MARINE DISABLED AND THIS LAND ROVER LR2 HSE HAS A BIG PROBLEM WITH WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMPS IT HAS TWO PUMPS ONE FOR THE HEAD LIGHTS AND ANOTHER FOR THE WINDSHIELD I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN MAY OF 2012 AT TEDDY VOLKSWAGEN IN BRONX ,NEW YORK AND I LIVE IN YONKERS,NY . I CALLED THE DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEY SAY THEY HAVE TO BRING THE DOWN THE FRONT BUMPER DOWN TO FIX A WINDSHIELD PUMP THAT COST $24.26 FOR A WINDSHIELD WASHER FRONT PUMP ITS OUTRAGES HOW MUCH THIS WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP COST AND THE ONLY WANT THAT CAN FIX IT IS THE LAND ROVER DEALER A $ 24.26 WINDSHIELD PUMP FOR A LAND ROVER LR2 HSE I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THE COST OF FIXING OR REPLACING A WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP TO REMOVE THE FRONT BUMPER TO REMOVE THE FRONT BUMPER !!PLEASE RECALL THE THIS VEHICLE WITH THIS MAJOR PROBLEM LAND ROVER LR2 HSE 2008. DURING HOT SUMMER MONTHS, VEHICLE EMITS VERY STRONG GAS FUMES AFTER DRIVING. IT ONLY HAPPENS IF THERE IS 1/2 TANK OR MORE OF FUEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES, AND ALSO OCCURRED ON THE THREE-YEAR OLDER MODEL THAT I HAD OF THE SAME VEHICLE. SUPPOSEDLY, THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS RE-DESIGNED FOR THE '08 MODEL, BUT THE SYMPTOMS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE REP., SHE HAS THREE OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. THE FUMES CAN GET SO BAD THAT I AM AFRAID TO PARK IT IN MY GARAGE FOR FEAR OF THE WATER HEATER IGNITING THE FUMES. THE FUMES ARE NOTICEABLE IN THE FAMILY ROOM OF MY HOUSE, AS WELL AS THE BEDROOMS ABOVE. IF THE VEHICLE IS OUT SIDE, YOU CAN SMELL GAS FROM TWENTY FEET AWAY. WHEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE FUMES WILL ENTER INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. LATER IN THE DAY, AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE, THE GASSING HAPPENED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER ON 8/17/09 AGAIN TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CORRECTED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY WAY THEY COULD FIX WAS IF THEY COULD RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR FOUR DAYS, DURING TEMPERATURES OF 105 DEGREES OR MORE, AND STILL SAY THAT IT IS NOT EMITTING GAS FUMES. SUPPOSEDLY, THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM HAS BEEN INSPECTED, WITH NO DEFECTS NOTICED. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT SOME OFF-GASSING IS TO BE EXPECTED, SO EVEN IF IT DOES ACT UP, THERE IS MOST LIKELY NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. *TR

The contact owns a 2007 Land Rover LR3. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, there was a delay in the vehicle responding. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact aggressively depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle came to a complete stop. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 213,000.
As electrical harness issue as described in NHTSA Reference #10056417, the suspension fails and dash reports suspension fault, leading to a suspension that is extremely unstable and could cause vehicle to roll over even at low speeds less than 30 MPH. My safety and the safety of nearby drivers was at risk while driving in a construction area near my home. I had to make an emergency erratic stop, once the suspension started bucking wildly after hitting a minor bump on the street, almost damaging the referenced car as well as those cars around me that were skidding to a stop. Yes, the problem is well documented in the above NHTSA reference and technical bulletin (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2014/SB-10056417-1282.pdf) has been published that does not solve the safety issue once the damage has occurred. Not only has it been confirmed by multiple sources, but the manufacturer has published the technical bulletin with recommendations that don't solve the issue; rather, they put a band aid on it, that only helps if you find the issue prior to it occurring. Vehicle state has been well documented by dealer recommended land rover service center. Warning lamps, messages, appeared on dash immediately prior to the unresponsive suspension issue. All previous service and recalls were performed by dealership; however, no recommendation for performing the technical bulletin above was every mentioned which could have feasibly avoided the potentially life threating issue.
OUR VEHICLE THROWS A CODE THAT LOCKS PARKING BRAKE WHEN DRIVING AND IMMEDIATELY STOPS THE CAR IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES LUCKILY WE WERE ON SIDE ROADS WITH VEHICLES NOT BEHIND US THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE TIMES THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT AS THE SOLUTION BUT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN NOW TWO GRAND TO REPLACE PARKING MODULE WHICH HAS PUT US IN DANGER FIVE TIMES AND NO DIAGNOSTIC REPORT TILL NOW THAT IS THE PROBLEM THIS TIME IT HAPPENED IN MOUNTAINS IN A SNOW STORM RIGHT BEFORE WE ENTERED THE HIGHWAY HAD WE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY WE WOULD HAVE BEEN REARENDED IT HAS HAPPENED AT 40MILES AN HOUR 25 15 35 AND PARKED THERE WERE NO CODES THROWN UNDER TESTING UNTIL THIS LAST ONE WITH THE SNOWY ROAD A CAR TRAVELING BEHIND ME WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP IT GIVES ME ABOUT 30 SECS TO 1 MINUTE TO PUL OVER BEFORE IT STOPS
I WAS PULLING INTO A STAPLES STORE PARKING SPACE AND WENT TO STOP. THE LR3 ACCELERATED AS I WAS BRAKING AND THE POWERFUL ENGINE REVVED & WANTED TO KEEP DRIVING THE LR3 FORWARD. I KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND IMMEDIATELEY SHIFTED THE LR3 INTO PARK; SHIFTED BACK & FORTH BEFORE THE LR3 STOPPED IDLE. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO PEOPLE OR CARS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME, BUT I DID GO ACROSS THE LANE AND NEARLY HIT A PARKED CAR. I AM SO CONCERNED THAT I DROVE DIRECTLY TO THE LIBRARY; TALKED TO A FRIEND WHO SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE "SUDDEN ACCELERATION", SO I GOOGLED "2007 LR3 SUDDEN ACCLERATION"; THIS ISSUE IS ON LAND ROVER FORUMS, BUT THERE IS NO CONSISTANT DEFINITIVE CAUSE/SOLUTION TO THE ISSUE. FILING A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA AND CALLING THE MECHANIC TOMORROW.
AFTER FILING COMPLAINT NUMBER 10956803, I LOOKED AT OUR 2007 LAND ROVER LR3 AND DISCOVERED SIMILAR ISSUES WITH BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER UPPER SEATBELT ANCHORS. BOTH ARE DISPLAYING SLIGHT CRACKS. SIMILAR PICTURES CAN BE FOUND IN COMPLAINT #10956803
HE PASSENGER SIDE DASH WHERE THE AIRBAG IS INSTALLED HAS A SUDDEN STRAIGHT LINE CRACK IN THE DASH AT THE BOTTOM OF WHERE THE AIRBAG IS INSTALLED IN THE DASH AND A STRAIGHT LINE CRACK ON THE LEFT OF THE AIRBAG IN THE DASH. THESE ARE PERFECTLY STRAIGHT LINES, VEHICLE IS KEPT IN A GARAGE WHEN NOT IN USE. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN LEFT IN THE SUN FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. THESE CRACKS ARE SUDDEN
I HAVE EXPERIENCED A REMOTE KEY FAILURE ISSUE WITH MY LAND ROVER THAT APPEARS TO BE A RESULT FROM WIRING CORROSION (FRONT PASSENGER PANEL). THIS CORROSION CAUSES THE WIRING HARNESSES TO BECOME DAMAGED AND WIRING BREAKS AND EXPOSED TO BARE METAL AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE FIRE. THIS IS CAUSED BY THE DRAIN TUBES MANUFACTURING.
UNUSUAL DIFFERENTIAL WEAR. MY DIFFERENTIALS FLUID ARE REPLACED EVERY 20K MILES. AT 60K MILE USE, THEY ARE NOW FAILED (AGAIN, 1ST REPLACEMENT AT 40K MILES.)
