Crash test ratings

NHTSA NCAP crash test ratings

New Car Assessment Program

NCAP crash tests measure how well a vehicle protects occupants in controlled frontal crash, side crash, and rollover scenarios. Stars are awarded per category (5 = safest). These laboratory results are independent of owner complaints and are performed by NHTSA engineers on new production vehicles.

NCAP crash test ratings for this model are not yet loaded or this vehicle was not tested in the years analyzed. NHTSA tests a subset of new vehicles each year. Check nhtsa.gov/ratings directly for the latest results.

What the complaint data suggests

POWER TRAINMay 2026

My 2019 Jaguar E-PACE is showing code P26CB related to coolant pump performance. The vehicle is experiencing the same coolant/water pump failure symptoms reported in similar Jaguar vehicles, but my VIN was excluded from coverage. This issue creates risk of overheating, engine damage, and possible loss of power while driving. I believe additional affected VINs may not have been included because my vehicle is now showing the same known failure symptoms despite not being covered.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHEROct 2025

When coming to a stop the or even when trying to pull out the vehicle will shut off and you have to turn the car off to restart it and then switch back to drive and then the vehicle will go but it may turn off again if coming to a stop.

POWER TRAINJun 2025

Description of Incident: While driving on the highway, my 2019 Jaguar E-PACE suddenly and without warning lost power, putting myself and others at serious risk. The vehicle went into limp mode with no prior indication of any issues. Once the failure occurred, a warning message appeared on the dashboard stating β€œGearbox Fault,” and the transmission temperature began to rise rapidly. This failure occurred during active highway travel, with no safe shoulder or emergency lane available due to nearby construction. I was nearly rear-ended as I attempted to safely navigate off the road. This incident could have resulted in a serious accident. The issue has been confirmed and reproduced by a certified Jaguar dealership, which has inspected the vehicle and verified the problem. The vehicle displayed no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. The safety risk this defect poses is extremely concerning, and I am requesting a full investigation into this matter. Component(s) Involved: Transmission / Gearbox System Available for Inspection: Yes, vehicle is available upon request Confirmed by Dealer: Yes Inspected by: Jaguar Dealership Warning Lamps/Symptoms Prior to Failure: None

UNKNOWN OR OTHERDec 2020

MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR, SHE IS EXPERIENCING AN ABRUPT LOUD SCREECHING SOUND INSIDE THE CAB WHICH CAUSES HER TO TO LOSE FOCUS ON THE ROAD, WHICH IS VERY CONCERNING. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN'T IDENTIFY THE ISSUE AND DOESN'T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. HAS ANYONE ELSE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS BEFORE? IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINEJan 2020

AT RANDOM INTERVALS, THE ENGINE FAN GO INTO A 'ROAR' AT 100% RPM AND NOT STOP UNTIL THE CAR IS SHUT OFF. THIS OCCURS REGARDLESS OF THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE (SUMMER AT 90F, WINTER AT 30F AKA JUST NOW). THE FAN NOISE IS NOT PROPORTIONAL TO THE ENGINE RPM AND REMAINS CONSTANT ONCE IT STARTS. THE CAR CAN BE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY AND IMMEDIATELY STARTED AND THE FAN WILL BE RESET AND SILENT, SOMETIMES FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. THE JET-ENGINE SOUND FROM THE FAN IS NOT FIXED BY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON, JUST RESET TO THE NEXT DAILY OCCURRENCE. OUR 9 MONTH OLD E-PACE WILL DO THIS AT LEAST ONCE A DAY IF NOT MORE.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINEOct 2019

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IDEAL IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE FROM THE FAN. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GETTING READY TO TAKE OFF.

The basics

How to read this data

Complaints, recalls, investigations β€” here’s what each number actually tells you about a used Jaguar E PACE, in plain English.

01

What is an NHTSA Complaint?

An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is β€” but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Jaguar E PACE has 7 complaints on record across 7 model years.

02

What is a Safety Recall?

A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Jaguar E PACE has 0 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.

03

What Are Crash Complaints?

Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 0 of the Jaguar E PACE's 7 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions β€” a key safety signal beyond general reliability.

04

How Is the Reliability Verdict Calculated?

The reliability verdict (Excellent) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. This verdict gives buyers a quick interpretation before they review year-level details and VIN-level history. It should be treated as one decision input, not a substitute for a VIN-specific report.

05

Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?

Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable β€” simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.

06

Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN

Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Jaguar E PACE vehicles on the road β€” not any specific car. Two Jaguar E PACE vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.

07

What Are NHTSA Investigations?

When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage β€” NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Jaguar E PACE has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
