When the adaptive cruise control system is engaged while wearing prescription eyeglasses, either my regular clear lenses or prescription polarized sunglasses , a persistent audible and visual warning sounds approximately every two (2) minutes creating a distraction. The warning states "Keep your eyes on the road and drive safely. Driver assistance system is limited."

In March 2026, I was driving on the freeway when the car shut itself off and put itself into neutral and accessory modes. There was no warning. This put the safety of myself and other drivers on the road at serious risk because I was unable to accelerate or adequately control my vehicle without warning. The dealer says the car "is operating as designed."
The contact owns a 2024 Genesis GV80. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V229000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. While the vehicle was parked, the gasoline odor was also present outside the vehicle, especially while parked in the garage at the residence. The contact stated that there was condensation underneath the vehicle near the fuel tank. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
I have a concern with the power folding rear seats to increase the cargo space. It doesn't stopped if you are sitting in the seat and pushed the button. I tested it myself. This to me is very alarming and Genesis need to fix it or someone will get hurt or killed like the Hyundai Palisades case. A child shouldn't have to lose their life for Hyundai to fix a known issue. I really hope Genesis will follow suit and fix the problem before anyone else get hurt.
My 2024 GV80 with approximately 15k miles started completely powering off while driving multiple times and the vehicle started itself while in my enclosed garage space with no one in the vehicle, no button/brake pressed, not key fob pressed. I turned this into the dealership for manufacturer repair on 9/13/25 and as of today, 2/5/26, I still do not have my car back. The dealership explains there is an intermittent parasitic draw that they have been unable to identify. The battery drain, they claim, resulted in the car stopping by itself and starting by itself. The company has refused buyback under Lemon Law (not covering CPO), letters to the CEO have gone unanswered, multiple claims with Genesis corporate have resulted in no help and the local dealership is horrendous- no response, having the vehicle 5 months, no timeline.
1. Β·On [XXX] I was driving on the freeway at highway speeds when the car shut itself down and went into neutral and accessory mode. No warning lights came on. Nothing happened if I hit the gas or the brake or tried to change the gear. With the car being shut down, I could have been hit by other cars traveling at high rates of speed or caused an accident due to my car shutting itself off. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a dealer. They said it needed an entirely new transmission. No, the car has not be inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance agents, or others. 2. I drive Genesis GV 80 vehicle made in Korea. The information screen on my car keeps displaying very distracting message about SiriusXm radio free music in what are so-called pop-up advertisements that keep showing up randomly while Iβm driving distracting me from paying attention to other cars and traffic in general ! I find this quite dangerous and want something done about stopping these adβs from being displayed while I am driving as they may cause me to have an accident. This sort of intrusion should not be happening in the cars we drive here in America someoneβs going to cause an accident because they were reading these ads and not watching the road. I purchased this vehicle new from the dealer. At approximately 8500 miles a noise developed with the steering. It was a low pitched hum. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer a total of 3 times to repair the issue. They have performed the TSB work 3 times and it has not resolved the issue. I just picked up the vehicle for the 3rd time from the dealer and they say that there is nothing more at this point. They know it's an issue and since it involves the steering it's a safety issue.
My tire got ripped while I was driving on the highway. This is 2024 vehicle and less than 20000 miles.
1. When starting from a stop the vehicle sometimes applies brakes with a collision warning, with no other vehicles in front or next to the car. This will repeat several times before the issue goes away. This has happened 4 times in the last 10 days. Β 2. When using adaptive cruise control the vehicle will not recognize vehicles ahead, even with the maximum following distance selected. This is almost always the case.
While driving through a parking lot on [XXX], leaves blew in front of car and it automatically came to an abrupt stop. While driving on [XXX] on [XXX] at approximately 70 MPH, without any encroaching vehicles and with no road obstructions, the automatic emergency braking temporarily engaged on 2 occasions, indicator on dash indicated that it occurred, and I felt the wheels lock up for a short time. Fortunately, there was nobody very close behind me and I was able to maintain control of the car. In neither of these instances, did I physically apply the brake. I continued to drive the vehicle home at a decreased speed and have parked it in my garage. The vehicle mileage is 27043 and has no damage. An apparent dangerous malfunction with the vehicle's ADAS system (possible computer, camera or sensor.) I have spoken with the dealer and they are arranging to pick the vehicle up from my house. Unrelated, I had the vehicle oil changed at this same dealer (Genesis of Cherry Hill) at 6,000 miles and had to have it towed back to them the next day because they overfilled the oil, the CEL illuminated and it developed a misfire. Likely caused internal engine damage and flooded the VVT solenoids and likely aerated the oil, reducing its lubricating capability. While at a stop sign on a hill the brakes failed. Brake pedal released and sunk to the floor while pressed at a stop sign. I lost control of the car and had to swerve to the opposite side of the road to avoid collision. I then attempted to engage the emergency brake but that failed as well. The car rolled through a red light after which I put the car in park in an effort to stop the vehicle before running the next red light. The car came to a jerking stop after I put it in park. At the time of brake failure, warning alerts activated on the dashboard. βStop vehicle and check brake system.β After I was finally able to stop the car I called roadside assistance and had the car towed to the dealership for assessment and repairs.
Purchased my 2024 GV80 3.5t in June of 2024 and have been experiencing intermittent issues with the acceleration. Car hesitates when accelerating and can causing accidents while at an intersection making a turn. I have bought the car into the dealership three times, and they are unable to reproduce. Unfortunately, after reading the complaints and symptoms of the fuel pump recall for the 2021-2023 this issue seems identical. I have reach out to Genesis Corporate and they are no help and don't return calls or emails for days.
Total battery system failure to where vehicle would not start/restart, or if started via jumping, would stall out shortly thereafter. Battery problem to point to where jump starting is difficult due to shorted battery lowering availalble power to start/restart engine. This could have caused unexpected removal of power from the vehcile during traveling or in unsafe areas. This appears to be a very common problem with this vehicle as seen on various online forums and lack of part (battery) availability.
After 3 weeks of sitting idle, the car door had trouble to open. We changed the key batteries but didnβt fix the issue. The next day, car door opened without issue and the car was fine to drive. The 3rd day, the car went dead with no response to the key. The 4th day it came back to live again. However, the car went completely stalled during driving. The engine stopped and no lights or electricity can be turned on. After 15 seconds, the car restarted by itself. I sent the car to dealership but they cannot find any issue.

Defective software issue that has not been corrected since owner took possession of vehicle. Customer/Client is told to deal with the Engineering dept. at Genesis Corporate and it is out of the hands of the dealer. The software effects a lot of moving parts and safety features within vehicle, I feel the vehicle cannot be trusted. No one follows up from dealer to National Customer Service for the brand. They need accountability immediately.
On April 20th, 2026 I called Genesis of Carmel (Address: [XXX] Phone: [XXX] ) to get a oil change. On the same day I called them I also explained that various warning lights started to appear in the dash (check high beam assist system, check driver attention system, check speed limit system). The next day on the 21st when I wen to t take the car in for service the car would not start. I had to have the car towed to the Genesis dealer listed above. I received no calls from the dealership for 2 weeks. When trying to call their phone it is very hard to get through and strangely they hang up on you once you been transferred to the service department. On May 10th I received a call back from the Genesis delership and they stated that they had out a battery in my car but that the battery is draining and they don't know why. I asked them in they provide loaners sionce ai have beeen without a car for sevral days. they expolained that they don't have any but I could call Genesis (844-340-9741) and perhaps they could help me faster. i asked why they couldn't call for me and they stated that I may have better success. I called Genesis at that phone number 844-340-9641 and again explained all of the above information. I was given a case number and provided the same day as requested the information that they are asking for. This is a copy of the email (attached) I received after that call. Please note that even in this email they are stating it will be awhile before they get back to me. I am still without a car or a call back from the dealership. π Understanding This Data
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is β but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Genesis GV80 has 144 complaints on record across 6 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Genesis GV80 has 19 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 6 of the Genesis GV80's 144 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions β a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the AI Rating Calculated?
The AI reliability rating (Below Average) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. The rating provides a plain-English summary for buyers who want a quick verdict without parsing raw numbers. It is one input in your buying decision β always verify with a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable β simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Genesis GV80 vehicles on the road β not any specific car. Two Genesis GV80 vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage β NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Genesis GV80 has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
