When the forward collision warning activates, the braking pedal loses its effectiveness and causes the car to brake much more slowly than it should, which actually increases the chance of a collision occurring. This has happened multiple times to me in the past few weeks. It is a very dangerous problem.
On March 21, 2026 my Taycan motor wire disconnected from the battery during routine city driving The car was In the Middle lane of [XXX] waiting to turn left onto [XXX] A warning light said Car not drivable , pull over But the car was not functional. While charging my 2023 Porsche Taycan 4S at an Electrify America station, white smoke began emitting from the front wheel/charging port area. The vehicle also produced a burning odor inside the cabin. I immediately stopped charging and unplugged the vehicle. The smoke ceased within approximately 1–2 minutes. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Porsche dealership. Initial explanation from the dealer was steam from when radiators heats-up, which is inconsistent with the conditions and prior use history. Upon further inspection, the dealership identified battery-related issues. Ultimately, I was told that 8 out of 10 battery cells were replaced. The vehicle was out of service for approximately one month. The dealership stated that the battery cell issue was not related to the smoke event, which is concerning given the timing and severity of the incident. This vehicle had previously been subject to a battery-related recall addressed via software update only. I believe there is also ongoing litigation related to battery safety in this model. Given the smoke event, burning odor, and significant battery component replacement, I am concerned about the safety of this vehicle, particularly risk of thermal event or fire during charging. there has been no remedy for high voltage battery recall
Backing out of a parking space, the car automatically stopped as it should when approaching a curb. When I put the car back in drive and let off the brake, it lurched forward, I then hit the brake and it continued to accelerate for about 20 feet and hit a granite wall.

This is a known Safety Recall, Porsche Recall ARB7 / NHTSA ID 24V-732. I received the "URGENT SAFETY RECALL" Notice in November regarding possible battery cell module defects that could result in a battery fire. I contacted Porsche today and was told that there still is no remedy and that we will be contacted once there is one. I wanted to register a complaint, as suggested, if there is an unacceptable delay in fixing this. It seems to me that more than 3 months without a remedy in sight for an "URGENT SAFETY RECALL" that could result in a battery fire that could be deadly is unacceptable. Please facilitate compliance by Porsche with this "Important Safety Recall" by whatever means are at your disposal. Driving on a major roadway with no traffic or obstacles in front of me the car went into emergency braking mode and the engine shut down. The dashboard warning said “Engine Control Issue, Park in a Safe Place”. I could not restart the car for about 15 minutes, then it finally restarted and acted normally. The danger was the car braked violently and stopped in the middle lane of a busy street and I was unable to restart or move the car for about 15 minutes.
On December 24, 2023, my family and I were involved in a serious accident while driving our 2023 Porsche Taycan. I was making a left turn at approximately 10 mph when a 2009 Honda Fit, traveling in excess of 65 mph, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the left side of my vehicle. The impact was concentrated on the area around the front door, fender, and left-side charge port, causing over $60,000 in damage and rendering the vehicle a total loss. Despite the severity of the impact, the side curtain airbags failed to deploy. This malfunction significantly compromised the safety of my family, leading to a 60% tear in my left rotator cuff, which required surgery. The failure of the airbags exposed both me and my family to a greater risk of serious injury or death. The body shop recommended by the dealer, as well as the dealership itself, have both acknowledged this issue. The body shop could not understand why the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. Prior to the incident, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms indicating any potential problems with the vehicle’s safety systems. The failure of these critical components was only discovered as a result of this accident.
Car has collision detection and remedy system that detects for impending collision and activates braking. Incident occurred when the car in front abruptly brakes and my car detected collision and applied brakes, however, the brakes were not fully applied and would not completely stop to avoid colliding with the rear end of the car. Most importantly, the car would not respond to me pushing the brakes. I tried a couple of times in the short time before I had to turn into the next lane to evade collision. Luckily there were no car next to me. Also the pedal sometimes need to be pressed hard for the brakes to work effectively, and feel the brakes are soft. This happened a few times and both instances were reported to Porsche dealer. This is very dangerous as it occurs when you least expect, and leaves no error code. Dealer found the pedals to be ‘soft’ and adjusted but brake fading issue still persist. This car is a death trap with many recalls including battery bricking on the highway rendering the car immobile in the middle of traffic. Porsche should be forced to buy the car back.
The contact owns a 2023 Porsche Taycan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 MPH in stop-and-go traffic a second vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle causing the vehicle to crash into the rear of a third vehicle. The contact stated that during the incident the braking system had malfunctioned and the vehicle did not immediately stop while pressing the brake pedal causing the rear end collision. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 3,000.
The rear camera of the Taycan (all models) when viewing makes it feel like I am in a funhouse as all the images are distorted. The camera is actually unusable. I can see this potentially causing accidents for those that are using it. Can’t even tell from the pole or car next me how close or far it is from me. My 2021 Jeep Wrangler Willys camera is far superior as was the rear camera on my 2014 BMW Gran Turismo. Can you please ask for an update as it should be required.
The contact owns a 2023 Porsche Taycan. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V615000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
At slow speeds, the Taycan brake pedal pushes all the way to the floor but the vehicle does not stop. This happens when approaching a stop sign, other vehicles, pedestrians, etc. The problem has been reproduced. The Porsche dealer confirms it is a problem with Taycans and acknowledges the potential for accidents. The dealer says Porsche Germany has not provided a fix. Vehicles and pedestrians in front of the vehicle are at risk of being hit. The vehicle is available for inspection.
Taycan’s cabin heater fails during winter months without warning. Car will send out “precondition unavailable” messages With heater not working car is unable to defrost front window. It becomes a serious hazard while driving and needing the window to stay clear. Dealership so far is replacing the high voltage heater component. But might happen again within a few months. No actual remedy besides replacing with the same part that destine t fail again
Car has a red warning light come on that says engine control error park vehicle in a safe place. This happened on the freeway 4 times took it in to Porsche they claimed they fixed it. When the light comes on you have to stop the car and restart it. You can not accelerate. After it was claimed to be fixed it happened again but this time applied braking intermediary aggressively. The car behind me stoped in time before hitting me but just barely. Its very unsafe.
Exterior automatic door handles sometimes automatically close on a person's fingers. My child's 4 fingertips were caught by the automatic door handle closing and I had to frantically find a way to release the door handle. My own fingers have come close to being crushed by the automatic door handle closing. Its a flaw in the design. Safety of myself and others who operate the door handle are all at risk for finger injury, possible amputation and crush injuries. Vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer or manufacturer. No warning lamps, messages or any other symptoms of the problem.
While driving my 2023 Porsche Taycan under normal conditions, the plastic underbody protection panel on the bottom of the vehicle came loose and detached. The metal underneath the plastic panel is now visibly bent. I did NOT hit any object. There was NO impact. I did NOT hear or feel anything during driving. There were no warning lights, alarms, or messages on the dashboard. The first indication of any problem was discovering the detached plastic and bent metal after the fact. This is a serious safety concern because the underbody panel on the Taycan protects the high-voltage battery, battery cooling lines, and suspension components. Damage to these components can cause battery thermal events (fire risk), coolant leaks, or loss of vehicle control. PATTERN OF SIMILAR FAILURES: This is not an isolated incident. Other Porsche Taycan owners have reported nearly identical failures on public forums (TaycanForum), where the underbody protection panel was damaged or detached without any felt impact, no audible noise, and no warning. In at least one documented case, the resulting battery and coolant line inspection costs exceeded $70,000. Porsche's own internal tolerance for underbody panel deformation is extremely tight (3mm in the center zone), suggesting the design is vulnerable to routine road conditions and debris.
