On 9/4/2023, both airbags in my daughter’s 2015 Nissan 370-Z violently exploded open erroneously at a stop-sign, when my daughter had, unknowingly, slowly rolled into the protruding hitch of the truck in front of her; the imperceptible impact of which my (driver) daughter and (passenger) son didn’t feel, nor even known had happened (until after they escaped the traumatizing horror). None of the nearby witnesses could noticed the car bump either. From each of the witnesses’ perspectives, they heard a loud explosion come from the 2nd car stopped at a stop sign. Everyone in the vicinity…and patrons & workers who’d run out of the corner store… watched in horror, as “smoke” filled the vehicle immediately. As people began rushing toward the car, my 13 y.o. son DOVE out of the passenger door & rolled several feet…hands clasped to his ears, violently screaming . A gentleman ran toward my daughter’s door, fully prepared to pull her from (what was believed to be) the burning car. Although she was hysterically crying & burned from the chin to the stomach, she was otherwise able to be helped out of the car & walk with assistance to her brother…who had lost all hearing in both ears (for over 15 minutes). It was then that the driver of the truck informed my daughter & helpers of her bump into his hitch. Aside from a small dent in my daughter’s front bumper, there were no other signs of damage from the impact. There WAS, however, a shattered windshield from the passenger airbag. My daughter & son reported that, as the airbags exploded unexpectedly, they were pelted with thousands of stinging particles as the car filled with smoke & smelled like it was on fire. My son dove out of the car as my daughter screamed, “The car is on fire!” Due to bad actor, Dakota McGregor from Nissan, her lies about any known issues or recalls w/the vehicle’s airbags, & her refusal to file a report bc my “kids didn’t die”, we took the $15K hit to repair & Dakota interfered w/the repair co.

Car exhibits behavior detailed in Nissan TSB with classification EC19-011, reference number NTB19-018. Lack of power after engine cold soak. After engine sits for days, or even hours, upon startup, the accelerator is limited to about 5mph and 1500-2000 rpm. Very slow. It does this for about 10 seconds of forward movement with pedal beyond the 5mph threshold, then returns to everything performing like normal. 10 seconds of sitting idle doesn't do it. Unfortunately, those first 10 seconds are usually when pulling out into traffic from a parking lot. Whether from my house, my garage, or from work, it's done this in all these places. Not shopping because the engine doesn't cool down during that time. It did this since new but has become more regular over time. My car is a well cared for summer driver, not driven hard, and only has 6200 miles. Others on Facebook have mentioned this same issue, and the fact that there is a TSB issued says Nissan is aware of the problem, but doesn't consider it a safety risk. I can't tell you how many times I pull into traffic around a blind corner, and someone nearly T-bones me because I'm creeping in front of them. Imagine going from 45mph to 5mph, they're pissed because they think I cut them off, then I go 5mph for 5 more seconds to rub it in. I will get hit one of these days. This is clearly a product quality problem since the resolution in the TSB is to reprogram the ECU, and the risk to safety is existential. If I do get hit, I'd consider a lawsuit in light of the TSB. For the record, I contacted the dealer and also Nissan North America and they both referred me to each other, refusing to cover the reprogramming repair. With or without warranty, this should be recalled and fixed. Seems like only 2019's so far.
WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS OR BRIDGES FEB WARNING SIGN APPEARS WITH A MESSAGE (UNAVAILABLE :FRONT RADAR OBSTRUCTION) , NISSAN DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SENSOR TWICE BUT IT KEEPS HAPPENING
NISSAN 370Z (TOTAL RIDE OF 10,000 KILOMETERS) PURCHASED FROM NISSAN KOREA (GANGNAM BRANCH) IN LATE JULY 2019 AND RODE ON POCHEON LACEWAY (CAR RACECOURSE, CIRCUIT) ON FEBRUARY 8, 2019, AND SUFFERED A HUGE BLOW DUE TO SUSPECTED BREAKAGE. AFTER RIDING A CIRCUIT (WITH ENOUGH COOLING, TOTAL CIRCUIT DRIVING BLACK BOX VIDEO) AT A CERTAIN INTERVAL, THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK WELL AT ABOUT 180 MPH, AND SOON AFTER, THE SPONGE PHENOMENON OCCURRED AT 120 MPH. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO ONE NEARBY, AND I WAS ALSO LUCKY TO END UP WITH A STIFF NECK AND NO CREDIT. ON FEBRUARY 7, 2019, THE DAY BEFORE THE ACCIDENT, NISSAN SEONGSU CENTER RAN A CIRCUIT AND ASKED FOR A CHECK ON BRAKES AND OTHER CONSUMABLES. THE COMPANY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH ENGINE OIL CHANGE AND OTHER PARTS. BUT THE NEXT DAY, I ENDED UP LOSING MY LIFE IN A BIG ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF A BRAKE DEFECT DURING CIRCUIT DRIVING. AS A RESULT, I WAS ABLE TO SUSPECT THAT THE ABS MODULE, THE BRAKE COMPONENT USED ON NISSAN VEHICLES, WAS DEFECTIVE, AS THE BLACK BOX VIDEO AND THE DRIVING RECORD AT THAT TIME SHOWED THAT THE BRAKES HAD NOT BEEN APPLIED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED A DAY AGO AND ONLY RODE ON A FULL-KILOGRAM VEHICLE. THIS WAS ALSO POINTED OUT BY MBC AS A DEFECTIVE PART MANUFACTURED BY CONTINENTAL COMPANY (INCLUDING DOZENS OF VEHICLE LISTS RELEASED LAST NOVEMBER, INCLUDING NISSAN GTR AND USING PARTS SUCH AS 370Z), WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKE FLUID TO BOIL, RESULTING IN A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM CONNECTING THE PRESSURE OF THE BRAKES (RESPONSE) TO THE SPONGY PHENOMENON. HOWEVER, NISSAN HAS ONLY RECALLED THE VEHICLE IN RELATION TO THE ABS, BUT HAS BEEN IRRESPONSIBLE ABOUT OTHER PROBLEMATIC VEHICLES. YOU CAN ALSO SEE THAT THE 370Z VEHICLE HAS LONG BEEN A VERY POOR VEHICLE FOR ALL ENGINE RELATED PARTS, AND THE NISSAN CENTER HAS BEEN CHARGING THEM FOR FREE (THIS IS NOT A FORMAL RECALL).
Sunday January 7th I came out to my vehicle and noticed my clutch was on the ground. I go to check my clutch fluid reservoir to just to see that it is completely bone dry. Last time I had driven the car,” was on Friday January 5th and everything was fine. I’ve had this problem previously before where if I didn’t drive the car for roughly 2 weeks then my clutch fluid would be empty and I’d have to bleed my clutch. Now it has got to the point where my clutch is on the ground and I can’t get back up no matter how much I try to bleed it. I’ve looked into the issue online only to find out multiply people has the same issue with either the Slave Cylinder or the Master Cylinder to cause their clutch fluid to leak out, some even reported that their clutches started getting damaged as well!
I PURCHASED MY 370 Z AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND I AM A LOYAL NISSAN CUSTOMER. THIS IS MY SECOND Z AND MY FAMILY OF 9 CARS IS A LARGE BASE FOR YOUR VEHICLES. MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN AND WE WILL BE SHOPPING FOR MY WIFE'S NEW CAR IN JUNE WHEN SHE RETIRES. MY AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN FLASHING FOR A WEEK SO I BROUGHT IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER TODAY. MY VEHICLE HAS 38,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD THAT SOMETHING UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT HAS TO BE REPLACED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE COST: OVER $3000. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY THIS. I ASKED THE TECH IF THE AIR BAGS WERE FUNCTIONING AND HE ANSWERED NO SO MY WIFE AND I HAVE NO AIRBAG PROTECTION. I ASK IF THIS FALLS UNDER THE AIRBAG PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BEEN IN THE NEWS FOR YEARS? IS MY WIFE AND I IN DANGER? PLEASE REVIEW THE AIRBAG ISSUE AND DIRECT ME TO MY NEXT OPTION. I FEAR A LIABILITY ISSUE. THANK YOU
AS I BEGAN TO START MY VEHICLE ONE DAY, THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE GROUND BECAUSE IT HAD NO PRESSURE ON IT. I FOUND THAT THE CLUTCH FLUID WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY AND REFILLED IT. AFTER IT REBUILT PRESSURE, IT WAS OPERABLE AGAIN FOR SEVERAL MONTHS UNTIL IT COMPLETELY LOST PRESSURE AGAIN WHILE DRIVING, SO I HAD TO PULL OVER. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD COMPLETELY EMPTIED AGAIN. AFTER LOTS OF RESEARCH ONLINE, I FOUND THAT THERE IS A PLAGUING PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER. (I AM MECHANICALLY INCLINED AND CAPABLE OF AUTO REPAIRS). I ORDERED THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER ONLINE AND REPLACED IT MYSELF FOR A PERMANENT FIX WITH AN OEM CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER. THERE'S NO TELLING HOW LONG THIS ONE WILL LAST BECAUSE NISSAN MAKES THESE PARTS OUT OF A VERY CHEAP PLASTIC THAT IS SUBJECT TO FAIL AT ANY TIME. THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER COST ME $188 PLUS THE COSTS OF RENTING A GARAGE BAY, PAYMENT FOR A FRIEND'S ASSISTANCE, AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS, AS WELL AS TIME OFF OF WORK. THE SAFETY MATTER BEHIND THIS GREATLY CONCERNS ME AS I PURCHASED MY 370Z BRAND NEW IN OCTOBER 2015 AND TAKE GREAT CARE OF IT. THE VEHICLE HAD 39K MILES AT THE TIME OF THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER FAILURE. HOW IS IT THAT NISSAN CAN CONTINUE TO MAKE SUCH A CHEAP, HIGH-FAILURE PART THAT GREATLY ENDANGERS SAFETY AND NOT UPGRADE THE PART AND FIX THE HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS THAT HAVE FAILED? THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER CAN BE FOUND ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND AFTER-MARKET COMPANIES HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THEIR OWN HANDS TO PRODUCE THEIR OWN CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER AND MASTER CYLINDER TO ALLEVIATE THE ISSUES CAUSED BY NISSAN. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE FIRST PROBLEM OCCURRED, AND IN MOTION DURING THE SECOND FAILURE. THE AVERAGE MECHANIC'S QUOTED RATE TO FIX THIS ISSUE RANGED FROM $1000 TO $1375.
THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER FAILED WHICH RESULTS IN NOT BEING ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN GEAR ONCE YOU HAVE STOPPED AND PLACED THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. THIS FAILURE HAPPENED AT AN INTERSECTION AND CAUSED ME TO NOT BE ABLE TO PROCEED. ONE CAR ALMOST SLAMMED INTO ME. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS INFERIOR PLASTIC PART SINCE 2009 AND HAS NOT CHANGED ANYTHING.
WHEN BRAKING SUDDENLY THEY CAR GOES INTO "ICE MODE" WHERE IN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS HARD AND STOPPING POWER IS LIMITED.
IN MOTION, CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 2500RPM SUDDENLY. SPROCKET WAS DEFECTIVE. DEALER/ MANUFACTURER KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM, WONT FIX OR COVER UNDER WARRANTY.
THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER FAILED ON OUR 370Z AS THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND COUNTY ROADS. THE CLUTCH PEDAL WOULD NOT RETURN ALL THE WAY BACK UP THUS CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO BE STUCK IN THE GEAR IT WAS IN, AND BE LESS IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER DOING MORE RESEARCH SINCE, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN 370Z DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF USING A PLASTIC CONSTRUCTED SLAVE CYLINDER THAT IS MOUNTED IN THE TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NISSAN SHOULD HAVE RECALLED BY THIS POINT!
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN I WENT TO SHIFT INTO ANOTHER GEAR. THE PEDAL FELT "LIGHT", MEANING IT HAD LESS RESISTANCE IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE STROKE. IN THE REMAINING HALF OF THE STROKE THE CLUTCH DISENGAGED ENOUGH TO SHIFT GEARS. WHEN RELEASING THE CLUTCH PEDAL, IT REMAINED STUCK TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD TO FLIP IT TO ITS RELEASED POSITION WITH MY FOOT. THIS BEHAVIOR CONTINUED UNTIL I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A SERVICE CENTER
THE AIR BAG DISABLED LIGHT IS ON WHEN MY WIFE SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. SHE WEIGHS 120LBS AND IS 5' 8" TALL. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO NISSAN SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY SAY THE SENSOR IS WORKING TO SPEC.
HAD NO PRESSURE IN CLUTCH ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND KEPT GETTING STUCK AFTER RELEASING IT. HAD THE CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL REPLACED, PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR A WHILE. BUT IT'S BEEN LESS THAN A YEAR, AND I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, AND THE CLUTCH SUDDENLY HAD NO PRESSURE HALFWAY AGAIN. NOW THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER OR CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER. IT HAPPENED SUDDENLY ON THE FREEWAY WITH NO INDICATION OF WARNING. I STILL HAVE STOCK POWER TERRAIN PARTS. I HAVE SEEN MANY PEOPLE ON 370Z FORUM WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM.
CLUTCH PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD NO PRESSURE CAN'T DRIVE CAR CSC FAILURE INSIDE TRANSMISSION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN 370Z. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED ISSUES STARTING THE VEHICLE WHILE DEPRESSING THE ENGINE START BUTTON. A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE KEY, WHICH MEANT AN INTELLIGENT KEY SYSTEM OR ELECTRICAL STEERING LOCK SYSTEM MALFUNCTION PER THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN. *TR
CAR HAS 17,751 MILES ON IT. BOUGHT 30 DAYS AGO FROM ACURA DEALER IN FORT WORTH. WENT TO PULL OUT OF GARAGE, AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS STUCK TO THE FLOOR. GETTING IT DIAGNOSED AT NISSAN DEALER, BUT IT'S BELIEVED TO BE A SLAVE CYLINDER THAT IS A KNOWN MALFUNCTION BY NISSAN, AND THEY WILL NOT RECALL IT OR COVER IT UNDER POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY.
***NISSAN 2013 370Z (MT) CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER *** PURCHASE BRAND NEW. IN MARCH OF 2013, JUST 2K MILES THE SLAVE CYLINDER FAILED. REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. ON 6/17/2016, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, MY CLUTCH FAILED DURING TRAFFIC HOURS ON THE 60 EAST FWY. I COULD NOT SHIFT THE GEAR TO GET TO LOWER OR HIGHER GEAR. THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO GET ON THE SHOULDER LANE TO STOP SAFELY. THIS HAPPENED AT 3,100 MILES. YES, JUST AFTER MY FACTORY WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED. CSC IS NOT COVERED UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT NISSAN HAS AGREED TO FULLY PAY FOR THE SECOND REPLACEMENT. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND CAN CAUSE BODILY HARM WHEN DRIVING AND CLUTCH FAILS. ALSO I BELONG TO A NISSAN SOCIAL COMMUNITY FORUMS AND THERE ARE MANY HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. BE SAFE OUT THERE. *TR

📖 Understanding This Data
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is — but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Nissan 370Z has 41 complaints on record across 10 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Nissan 370Z has 1 recall campaign in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 3 of the Nissan 370Z's 41 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions — a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the AI Rating Calculated?
The AI reliability rating (Average) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. The rating provides a plain-English summary for buyers who want a quick verdict without parsing raw numbers. It is one input in your buying decision — always verify with a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable — simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Nissan 370Z vehicles on the road — not any specific car. Two Nissan 370Z vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage — NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Nissan 370Z has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
