Car just stopped abruptly on highway. We tried to shut off and restart. Nothing worked. All emergency signs showed up on dashboard. Highway road assistance guy tried to put it in neutral..it did nit work. We were scared to death siting on i 278 with trucks,buses coming behind us. Car just abruptly stopped

Twice the vehicle has stalled while driving. I see that there is a recall on my model for a faulty fuel pump which causes this problem, but my dealer claims my vehicle is not part of the recall even though it is having the same issue.

I have a new GLS450 and on two separate occasions the car has shut down at a stop with no warning. First time was approximately mid July of 2023 with about 1,700miles. While at a stop the instrument panel displayed a text box with the words “Malfunction” across the screen, and proceeded to shut down. After a minute we were able to restart the car. Took it back to the dealership and they were not able to get any codes or reason why it happened. Now 3 weeks later it happened again, and back at the same dealership from where I purchased it. Again, same story that they are not able to get any codes as to what malfunctioned.

This is [XXX], a Mercedes customer who purchased a brand new 2023 GLS 450 (VIN:[XXX] ) in April 2023 from the Mercedes dealer in White Plains NY. I am contacting you about the Mercedes rusting claim. On May 22, 2023, less than a month after the purchase, a sheer of orange powdery rust was discovered (video available) on all steel frames of the four wheels. I contacted the sales person ([XXX]) , who referred to a manager ([XXX]) who told me that it was “normal because every car in our parking lot has the same thing.” I was very unhappy and disappointed with the response. The rusting obviously is a defect which is not normal. It is potentially dangerous and deadly for customers. The contact owns a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 4Matic. The contact stated that vehicle was taken to the dealer for routine service, and it was discovered that the U-joint on front driveshaft was fractured and needed to be replaced. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V216000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

the vehicle suffered a sudden and catastrophic engine failure while being driven on the freeway at about 60mph. The engine seized and the vehicle lost propulsion creating a serious safety concern

The front vehicle hood keep saying it open but is lock keep getting a message saying is open I am afraid is might come out lock and cause me to an accident

I am reporting a serious safety defect in my 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS450. My vehicle experienced low oil pressure warnings and engine warning lights, which were diagnosed as a faulty oil pump solenoid valve. The repair required removing major engine components, resulting in a cost of $5,000 that I paid personally. It is important to note that Mercedes-Benz updated the valve design in the following model year, indicating that the company was aware of a defect in the original design. This demonstrates that the failure is recurring and not isolated, creating a serious safety risk—low oil pressure can lead to catastrophic engine failure while driving, endangering the driver and passengers. I request that NHTSA: Document this as a potential safety defect. Investigate the prevalence of this issue. Consider initiating a recall or safety notice for affected GLS450 vehicles.

When I attempt to shift from park to to drive or reverse or even neutral the car wont respond. this has happened a couple of times in the last two months. I press on the brake in order to shift and it wont respond to any commands . I then have no choice but to turn off the car and then turn it back on. that usually works. this is unsafe if i was at an open parking lot or even on the street doing a U-turn and I don't turn right then having to reverse and the car doesn't respond. very scary stuff.

The panoramic sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving down the road. The glass blew out from the inside out. There didn't appear to be any issues with the sunroof before this. As far as safety, just the noise of the explosion was enough to surprise the driver causing a jerking of the steering wheel into the opposite lane of traffic which could have caused a head on collision. If the sunroof shade would have been open, the glass would have came down the drivers and passengers as they were going down the road. Saying this was distracting is an understatement. I called the local Mercedes dealership and was completely dismissed by them. They said it would have to be repaired by a glass company which is incorrect. The glass was replaced by the local collision center.

The leaking of oil in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, Euro Motorcars Devon Mercedes-Benz. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, a diagnostic was done highlighting the problem. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, Active Curve System Malfunction. Oil in the Active Curve System is leaking. This leaking oil, in the presence of an ignition source, increases the risk of a fire. This recall is also affecting my vehicle. I had a diagnostic done at the Mercedes dealer, and it revealed the same issue as in the previous year, 2017.
