The accelerator position sensor and the related wiring is defective. It loses power during acceleration and does not accelerate properly. My safety and the safety of others is at risk because it has lost power while in 65-70 mph traffic which almost caused an accident. The dealer has confirmed this issue is with the wiring harness connection to the accelerator. I contacted the manufacturer but they were not willing to assist me, and have not inspected the vehicle. I will request the dealer to give me the defective parts once the repair is complete. Shortly before losing power, the following warning flashes: "emergency brake inoperative" and the stabilitrak/traction control light comes on and says to check the owners manual(manual does not provide explanation for this issue)
When driving on the highway at 55 mph Infiniti’s forward emergency braking failed it. resulted in a mirror collision with the vehicle ahead of me. Took my vehicle to Infiniti of coral gables current the vehicle is the service center with no updates
I HYDROPLANED MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVE BETWEEN 55-60 MPH OF INTERSTATE 10 IN HOUSTON, TX ON 11/28/2020. I SLIDE ACROSS FOUR LANES AND FRONT END COLLIDED WITH A CONCRETE BARRIER. NOT ONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE FRAME WAS BENT AND RIPPED NEXT TO THE SENSORS AND I REPORTED THIS TO NISSAN/INFINITI. MY INSURANCE CRASH INVESTIGATOR AND THE BODY SHOP ALL STATED MY AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE NISSAN INVESTIGATOR [XXX] DECLARED THAT SHE IS THE FINAL SAY ON THE SAFETY OF MY AIRBAGS AND CLAIMS THAT IT IS HER OPINION THAT I DID NOT MEET THE QUALIFICATION FOR MY AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. I HIT THE CONCRETE WALL AT PROBABLY AROUND 30-40 MPH AND CAME TO A DEAD STOP. I HAD NOTHING TO HELP WITH THE SHARP SNAP OF MY NECK FROM THE IMPACT. [XXX] UNPROFESSIONALLY YELL AT ME THAT SHE IS THE AUTHORITY ON THE EFFECTIVENESS AND SAFETY AND THEN HUNG UP THE CALL ON ME AFTER STATING THAT I DID NOT SHARE HER OPINION AND ASKING HER MULTIPLE TIMES IF SHE WOULD SEND ME A REPORT OF HER FINDINGS FOR MY RECORDS, WHICH SHE REFUSED TO DO. I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CONTACT ANYONE ELSE IN NISSAN INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT AND I BELIEVE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT COULD HARM A LOT OF PEOPLE IF MY AIRBAGS WERE FAULTY. NISSAN/INFINITI HAD AIRBAG RECALLS IN THE 2017 MODEL AND IT IS POSSIBLE THERE ARE STILL ISSUES. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE DAMAGE AND THE AIRBAG SENSORS.*DT INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
The contact owns a 2018 Infiniti QX30. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the steering wheel, with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed clockspring. The contact was informed that the clockspring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the vehicle was repaired under an undisclosed recall in 2018. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under the previous recall. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
The rear subframe on my 2018 Infiniti QX30 experienced a structural failure at approximately 39,000 miles. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Infiniti dealer, who confirmed failure of the rear subframe, a critical structural and safety component. This failure created a serious safety hazard, including risk of loss of vehicle control. The vehicle was deemed unsafe to operate. The failure occurred under normal driving conditions and without warning. A rear subframe is not a wear item and should not fail at this mileage. This appears to be a potential manufacturing or design defect affecting vehicle safety.
I am submitting a safety concern regarding the headliner in my vehicle. The rear portion of the headliner has detached and is sagging downward. As shown in the attached photo, the sagging material obstructs visibility through the rear window, significantly reducing the driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle. This creates a dangerous situation, particularly when reversing, changing lanes, or monitoring traffic approaching from the rear. The obstruction compromises rearward visibility, which is a critical safety function. I believe this issue presents a safety defect that could increase the risk of a collision and endanger both the occupants of the vehicle and others on the road. Requested Action: I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether this is an isolated incident or part of a larger defect affecting similar vehicles. If found to be systemic, a recall or mandatory repair program should be considered to ensure driver safety.

I am reporting a serious manufacturer defect in my 2018 Infiniti QX30. The headliner has detached and is sagging, obstructing rear window visibility and presenting a potential distraction while driving. This impairment significantly reduces rear visibility and has created an ongoing safety risk, especially when changing lanes or reversing. Infiniti Consumer Affairs has acknowledged the defect and its safety concerns but has only offered partial repair coverage, which I have refused on the basis that no consumer should bear any cost for a safety-related manufacturer defect. The defect is not due to misuse, damage, or wear, and the vehicle is otherwise in good condition. This issue has been reported to multiple regulatory agencies. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter as a potential safety hazard and evaluate whether it qualifies for a recall or manufacturer accountability. The contact owns a 2018 Infiniti QX30. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the diagnostic trouble codes P052E71 and P053A-00 were retrieved. The mechanic determined that the crankcase ventilation system intake valve had failed. The mechanic also informed the contact that the vehicle was a Mercedes-Benz vehicle that the Infiniti manufacturer had rebranded as an Infiniti vehicle. The mechanic confirmed that the engine was a Mercedes-Benz engine. The dealer was notified of the failure. The contact attempted to purchase the part from the dealer, but the dealer provided the incorrect part. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that while driving and coming to a stop, the vehicle stalled intermittently. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Mercedes-Benz Campaign Number: MC-10241531-0001. The Mercedes-Benz manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The Infiniti manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
I am writing to express my concerns regarding a malfunction in my vehicle, specifically related to the airbags and the steering angle sensor or possibly the steering wheel itself. Over the past year, I have noticed a significant change in my vehicle's performance. Initially, I began hearing a constant clicking sound coming from the steering wheel or its vicinity whenever I make turns, particularly noticeable when I reverse to leave my apartment. Shortly after this sound started, I discovered that my horn is not functioning, which prevents me from alerting other drivers or signaling my presence on the road. This has made me feel unsafe while driving, as I have had several close calls with other vehicles. Due to these issues, I sought mechanical assistance in addition to my regular maintenance. My car has been at the auto care shop for over a month, as this is their first encounter with this problem. They have proposed several solutions, but they are not confident that any of them will completely resolve the issue. I believe this malfunction poses a risk to both myself and others on the road, and I am seeking assistance from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Prior to the onset of the clicking sounds, there were no warning signals, but I did notice an airbag warning light had appeared. I am concerned about the potential for the airbags to either deploy unexpectedly or fail to deploy in the event of an accident. Fortunately, I have not yet experienced a situation that required their use. I will attach the documents from my mechanical visit. The car is still at that location and is available for inspection upon request. I appreciate your attention to this matter and hope to receive guidance on how to proceed. Thank you.
Hello, My 2018 Infiniti QX30 slips into neutral while driving on the road at high speeds and without any warning. The message on the dash is vague “Service required. Do not shift gears. Visit Dealer.” I almost got into an accident more than once while driving the vehicle as low power to the vehicle accompanies this when it happens. I had absolutely no problems with the vehicle leading up to the first occurrence. In fact, I bought the car with less than 10k miles on it from Infiniti directly, where it was a fleet loner vehicle and well maintained. My car today has 56,000 miles and it is only a 2018. Two months and three car shops later, the issue remains unresolved. Infiniti said at first this was just a dead battery. A day later the issue resurfaced, where I also received a transmission control error. My service tech at Infiniti admitted that it is 90% Mercedes under the hood and they only have flowcharts to diagnose the issue. They recommended replacing a steering control column for $2k and could not answer me when I asked what that has to do with the error. I pulled it out for a second opinion and have confirmed nothing mechanical with the transmission, it is electrical. A quick google search for “Infiniti QX30 Service required do not shift gears visit dealer” yields an unprecedented number of complaints on forums of a widespread issue involving the transmission control unit for this vehicle. This issue needs to be looked at from a governing authority and my attempts to speak with the dealership about the issue has fallen on deaf ears. I learned the hard way that from 2017-2019, Infiniti collaborated with Mercedes on this vehicle and 90% of what is under the hood is Mercedes. It is the sister model to the Mercedes GLA who experienced similar issues, and the 2019 Mercedes GLA recalled their models for the same transmission control unit failure. A Google search for the same 2017-2019 era with Mercedes GLA yields starkingly similar forums from those owners.
The contact owns a 2018 Infiniti QX30. The contact stated that on several occasions while in reverse(R) the display screen went blank. The vehicle was restarted, and on some occasions, the screen displayed a still frame image and an unknown sensor warning message was displayed on the screen. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Infiniti QX30. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle erroneously shifted into neutral(N) and stalled inadvertently. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart. The message "Service Required - Do Not Shift Gears - Visit Dealer" was displayed temporarily. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and it was diagnosed and determined that the auxiliary battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
I have had issues with the vehicle since purchasing it from Carmaxx in June 2021. I noticed the vehicle had extremely low miles and may have been involved in a traffic accident unreported as there is carriage noise and suspension noise as if it is loose. I reported a concern to the manufacturer when I initially received the vehicle and was brushed off by the manufacturer and not assisted. There are issues with the engine and I believe the driving system has been hacked or compromised as I have been having issues with the engine for some time so I became discourage to reported it locks up and does not allow the car to start. I believe the driving system has been electronically been compromised and hacked.
My vehicle is never been in an accident, but it is showing SRS malfunction. Nissan dealer took 2500$ to do all the services (Coolant, battery change, etc..) and gave me rejection sticker for state inspection and said I need to get this SRS issue fixed from infiniti dealer. And infiniti dealer says they have to replace the Airbag Control Module and quoting an other 2500$ spending 5000$ on a 10000$ car is not making sense, where equipment is going bad by itself. Airbag Control Module (SRS Malfunction, Front Left Malfunction)
The contact owns a 2018 Infiniti QX30. The contact stated while driving at various highway speeds, the vehicle suddenly decelerated to 30 MPH. During the failure the check engine warning light illuminated and the message "Inoperative - See Owner’s Manual" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on several occasions and the ignition module, engine cylinders, brake wiring harness and brake sensor were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,000.
The auxiliary battery located underneath the interior glove compartment went dead and the car was inoperable. I called Infinity and they would not help me. There was no information relating to this small battery either on internet or Infinity website. I finally had to have a friend drive me to the Coconut Creek Infinity service where they could not give me information but could repair only. The seatbelt on both driver and passenger continually lock up causing undo constriction and stress on eithr passenger. The moonroof electrical retractable interior lining which I have never used maybe 2 times since purchased bunched up two days ago and I cannot get it to close properly. The 2018 Infinity QX30 was purchased December 22, 2020. The warranty is 50,000 miles or 4 years. I have 53,000 miles and Infinity will not honor fixing the moonroof. Many Infinity owners have reported the same moonroof problem on this 2018 Infinity QX30 and because it was in the 1000's it should be a recall for this make/model.
The vehicle, with low mileage and no accidents, has had a few engine-related issues over the last few months. Recently, I went to turn it on, and many components of the car wouldn't work (no parking, power steering, engine issues, seats won't move, etc.). I live in a very dangerous city, and my car not working has placed me in a dangerous concern for my well-being. I took it to certified Infiniti dealer who said that the entire electrical harness has been damaged, rendering the vehicle a safety hazard, and quoted me $19,000 in repairs. Infiniti corporate refused to assist in repairing the damage that many people have reported having in this specific Infiniti model.
A variety of dashboard lights illuminated including engine light, ABS, emergency brake failure message etc. Vehicle drove as if power steering had failed. When I brought the car in to the Dealer I was told that the vehicle displayed codes for two concerns: 1) air quality sensor and 2) all 4 wheel speed sensors. The wheel speed sensors had previously been replaced in 2019 while the car was still under warranty. Current estimate for the repair was over $3200. Ultimately, Infiniti corporate paid for the current repair stating these items were “under warranty’ from previous repair. This is the SECOND REPAIR for 4 out of 5 sensors. These failures are red-flagged in the repair estimate as “critical concerns“ by Infiniti service. For context, this is a well-maintained vehicle with under 10,000 miles on it. I am the original owner. My concern is that the underlying cause/s of these failures are not addressed and this will happen again and compromise my safety. My vehicle already has two strikes against it as far as Florida Lemon Law is concerned. This situation feels like a vehicle safety recall waiting to happen.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 INFINITI QX30. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT START-UP, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL POPPING SOUND WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. ADDITIONALLY, SEVERAL FEATURES ON THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO OPERATE AS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000.

The basics
How to read this data
Complaints, recalls, investigations — here’s what each number actually tells you about a used Infiniti QX30, in plain English.
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is — but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Infiniti QX30 has 58 complaints on record across 3 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Infiniti QX30 has 8 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 5 of the Infiniti QX30's 58 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions — a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the Reliability Verdict Calculated?
The reliability verdict (Average) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. This verdict gives buyers a quick interpretation before they review year-level details and VIN-level history. It should be treated as one decision input, not a substitute for a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable — simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Infiniti QX30 vehicles on the road — not any specific car. Two Infiniti QX30 vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage — NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Infiniti QX30 has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
