The picture
Is the Isuzu Reach or Honda Accord more reliable?
A plain-English read on what the NHTSA record says about living with each vehicle.
Isuzu Reach
The Isuzu Reach is a niche used vehicle with a very sparse complaint history—zero owner complaints on record over four years. This suggests that owners have not reported significant issues to NHTSA, but it also means there is little real-world data to gauge long-term reliability. The six recalls, however, indicate that the manufacturer identified and addressed potential defects, mostly in the drivetrain and suspension. For a buyer, this vehicle offers a clean slate in terms of reported problems, but the lack of data makes it a bit of an unknown.
Honda Accord
The Honda Accord, in contrast, has a dense complaint history with over 4,400 complaints in ten years, averaging about 444 per year. Owners frequently report issues with the engine, electrical system, and forward collision avoidance features. Many complaints describe sudden power loss, warning lights, and malfunctioning safety systems, which can be alarming and potentially dangerous. The Accord also has 38 recalls, addressing issues like fuel pumps and airbag sensors. While the Accord is a popular and generally reliable car, the sheer volume of complaints suggests that certain model years have notable problems that buyers should investigate.

What actually goes wrong
The problems owners report
The most-complained-about systems on each vehicle — what fails, and what owners say in their own words.
Isuzu Reach
No component data available.
Multiple recalls target the driveshaft, indicating a risk of failure that could lead to loss of power or even separation. Owners have not filed complaints, but the recalls suggest a known defect that should be inspected.
A recall for rear leaf spring U-bolts points to potential suspension issues that could affect handling and stability. If not addressed, these could lead to misalignment or component failure.
A recall for axle hubs suggests possible bearing or hub failure, which could cause wheel wobble or even detachment. This is a critical safety area that should be checked.

Owners report engine noises, sudden loss of power, and warning lights for brakes and hill descent. Some describe the vehicle losing speed on the highway, which is a serious safety concern.
Complaints include TPMS warnings followed by tire failure, and rodent damage to wiring harnesses. Electrical gremlins can lead to unexpected malfunctions and costly repairs.
Many owners report false activations or system errors with adaptive cruise control and lane keeping. These systems can be unpredictable, potentially causing sudden braking or steering interventions.
Brake-related complaints often accompany other system failures, with owners seeing warnings for ABS and brake failure. This could indicate a loss of braking power, which is critical for safety.
