Our trucking business name is Fast Way Express LLC and this is a complaint against TEC Equipment Las Vegas (Volvo dealership) in regards to a new Volvo semi truck we purchased on 6/13/2022. After only 10,600 miles and 216 engine hours, all the electrical modules on the truck stopped working. I have pictures of all the warning or error messages on the dashboard. The truck has been in their repair shop since 9/23/2022, for almost 3 months, and they are unable to repair the truck. They are telling us that the parts they don't have are on national backorder and they don't have an estimated time for when they will have the parts. Volvo North America refuses to offer us a replacement for the truck or a refund. This is a new truck, under warranty, it is our only source of income, and we are unable to use it to make a living. We think 3 months is not a reasonable time period for repairs on a new truck under warranty. We paid $196,872.40 for this new truck and we cannot use it because TEC Equipment and Volvo NA are unable to repair it. We think TEC Equipment might be unable to fix the truck, we also think this might be a safety issue for which Volvo doesn't have a solution. We also think that at this point they don't disclose certain information with us and that they might be trying to stall for time.

The vehicle was taken to another dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that the engineers diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the two axles might need to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,000.
I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety issue involving a Volvo VNL truck. The vehicle was purchased new on December 12, 2025 and currently has approximately 22,000 miles. Since shortly after purchase, the truck has experienced a defect in the braking system. While driving, the vehicle has unexpectedly applied the brakes on its own and has displayed warning messages related to the parking brake system. This creates a dangerous situation because sudden braking can cause loss of control or lead to a collision with other vehicles. The truck was taken to an authorized Volvo dealer for repair and remained at the dealership for approximately one month while technicians attempted to diagnose and repair the problem. After the truck was returned to me, the exact same issue occurred again almost immediately. Because the braking system is a critical safety component, the unexpected application of brakes while driving presents a serious risk to the driver and to other motorists on the road. The defect has persisted despite extended repair attempts. I am reporting this issue so that it can be investigated as a potential safety defect affecting this vehicle model. Vehicle Information: Make: Volvo Trucks Model: VNL Purchase Date: December 12, 2025 Mileage: Approximately 22,000 miles I request that this safety issue be reviewed and investigated to determine whether other vehicles may be affected by the same defect.
The contact owns a 2026 Volvo VNL4. The contact stated that the front lift axle lowered unintendedly while in the travel position. The computer sensed the abnormal weight while driving in high winds. While driving in snow, rain, and wind, the contact was concerned about a crash while driving the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired after several months. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 1,800.

i bought a brand new truck in march 19 2025. it was a Volvo vnl 860 tractor. The incident happened on June, 7, 2025. i was driving on i81 northbound near exit 228 Verona city, Augusta County. i was in the left lane and my speed was 70 mph and approaching a bridge suddenly a SUV from right lane comes into my lane and hit my truck from right and then comes in front of my truck makes a direct front impact. i was shocked by this impact and trying to keep my truck in my lane but my all my truck safety features are stop working and lane departure features fails and my truck going into one direction only i was trying to keep the truck in left lane but the truck only goes to right side and due to this my truck hits the bridge guardrail and then get off from the bridge into the water. there is a clear failure of the lane departure feature failure because the truck was out of control and controlling itself. secondly the airbags on my truck didn't deploy even i had direct 3-4 impacts. For the result of these failures i was seriously injured and have life threatening injuries.I want to submit this because i want to help others as well. i am out of work right now no one here to help me. i need some help or compensation from Volvo.

The basics
How to read this data
Complaints, recalls, investigations β hereβs what each number actually tells you about a used Volvo VNL, in plain English.
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is β but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Volvo VNL has 21 complaints on record across 10 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Volvo VNL has 65 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 2 of the Volvo VNL's 21 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions β a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the Reliability Verdict Calculated?
The reliability verdict (Good) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. This verdict gives buyers a quick interpretation before they review year-level details and VIN-level history. It should be treated as one decision input, not a substitute for a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable β simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Volvo VNL vehicles on the road β not any specific car. Two Volvo VNL vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage β NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Volvo VNL has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
