Car stalls and jumps out of gear at takeoff leaving us in the middle of the intersection having to turn the car off and restarting it as cars are trying to go around, also car accelerates too high rpm when taking off at low speed
My car pulls to the right very hard where I have to hold the steering wheel with both hands. It also pulls to the left very hard and again I have to hold the steering wheel with both hands. It's not out of line. It feels as though its in the power steering which I am a bit concerned. I think it's dangerous to drive. I tried to make an appointment with Jaguar Dealership Service and can't get in until the latter part of next week plus they don't have a loaner which I need. Its a new car (2022) so I feel we should not be having these problems.
While driving my vehicle on numerous occasions, I get the alert βStop safely, electrical fault detectedβ. I have to pull over and rest my vehicle before driving again. If I continue to drive, the car shifts into neutral and loses power. This is very dangerous and it will stop anywhere while driving. I took it to the dealership in VA where I lived at the time in 2023. I was told there was no issue detected. I took it to the dealership in PA after I moved in 2024 and was told it could possibly be the alternator which was replaced. The error still occurs on and off since then. This began in November 2023, 3 months after buying the vehicle. The vehicle was new and I first started getting the alert at 3,000 miles. I am now at 16,000 miles. The problem is still occurring. It has recently got worse and quickly shifts into neutral without getting any warning, then I lose compete power. I was recently driving and my car shut down in the middle of the road with no warning at all. I was stuck on [XXX] . My car was towed to Jaguar and I have no updates yet. I just saw the recall for the F-Pace E-Pace and land rovers. My car is doing the same reported in the recall. I am aware they share the same part causing this recall, the DC-DC converter. My complaints to Jaguar get overlooked and Iβm told everything is fine. They do not care about the safety of their customers. The contact owns a 2018 Jaguar XF. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65-70 mph on the highway, the gear fault indicator light illuminated. The transaxle fractured and the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact was able to move to the shoulder. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the local dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 87, 827.
The rear left hand door will not close fully or lock. The door is ajar. The door could open at any time, and during an accident, since it is not latched, would produce results unlike the approved tested vehicle. This is the second time the latch has failed in less than 6 months and will leave the vehicle unsafe to drive. The vehicle has less than 16,000 miles and is stored inside. There is an indicator on the dash showing the door is not closed.
On May 2, 2026, ten days after purchasing the vehicle, the driverβside seatbelt locking mechanism failed while I was driving. The vehicle was inspected the next day at CarMax Tuscaloosa. Their mechanic confirmed two separate safety defects: 1. The driverβside seatbelt mechanism requires replacement. 2. The motor mounts are broken/loose and require replacement. The mechanic explained that debris was found inside the seatbelt mechanism, and the seatbelt needed full replacement. He also confirmed that the motor mounts were broken/loose, which can cause excessive engine movement, vibration, loss of power, or engine shifting during braking or acceleration. These conditions increase the risk of stalling or sudden shutdown, which is consistent with what occurred during my incident. The failed components are: β’ The driverβside seatbelt locking mechanism β’ The motor mounts/engine mounting system Both components remain on the vehicle. The seatbelt failure left me unrestrained while driving. The vehicle then shifted into Park and shut off in the middle of traffic, creating a risk of being struck by other vehicles or losing control. The broken motor mounts increase the risk of engine movement, stalling, or shutdown while driving, which could lead to loss of steering control or sudden deceleration in traffic. Yes. A CarMax mechanic at the Tuscaloosa, AL location confirmed both defects: As mentioned above The vehicle was inspected by CarMax Tuscaloosa. Jaguar Birmingham declined inspection because they do not service Jaguars older than 2018. An independent Jaguar specialist declined inspection due to prior nonβpayment issues with CarMax. No manufacturer, police, or insurance inspection has occurred. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. The seatbelt malfunction occurred suddenly. The engine shutdown occurred immediately after the seatbelt unlatched while braking. The vehicle remains unsafe to drive due to the unreliable seatbelt, broken motor mounts.
The contact's son owns a 2017 Jaguar XF. The contact stated that there was water inside the trunk of the vehicle where the battery was located. The contact was unaware of the location of the leak. The contact stated that the electrical wiring was corroded from the water intrusion. The contact was concerned that the electrical system might fail due to the failure. The contact's son reached out the manufacturer for assistance but had not receive a callback. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 JAGUAR XF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A RAILROAD CROSSING, ANOTHER VEHICLE REAR ENDED HIM WHICH KNOCKED HIS VEHICLE INTO THE MOVING TRAIN. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE VEHICLE AS THE MOVING TRAIN CLIPPED THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE CONTACT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION AT THE SCENE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE OTHER DRIVER WAS ARRESTED FOR DUI. THE CONTACT SOUGHT MEDICAL TREATMENT THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TREATED FOR INJURIES TO HIS BACK, NECK, AND LEFT EYE. THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TOW YARD. HIS INSURANCE COMPANY PERFORMED AN INVESTIGATION AND DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS, THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,451.
TIRE FAILURE. NATIONWIDE RECALL ADVISED. MY VEHICLE HAS 13,600 MILES HAS PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 ALL SEASON. THE CAR HAD AN ALIGNMENT AT ABOUT 7,000 MILES AT THE DEALER, JAGUAR ORLANDO, ON 10/8/19. ON 7/4/19, WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 408 IN ORLANDO A SEVERE VIBRATION STARTED AT ABOUT 60 MPH. UP UNTIL 7/4/19, NO PREVIOUS INCIDENTS OCCURRED INVOLVING MY TIRES, WHICH WERE WEARING NORMALLY PRIOR TO 7/4/19. AFTER PULLING OFF THE HWY, THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE EXPLODED AT A STOP LIGHT. I CHANGED THE TIRE USING THE SPARE AND NOTICED THE OTHER THREE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE SPLITTING ON THE INSIDE EXPOSING THE METAL INSIDE THE TIRE. AFTER THE DEALER, JAGUAR ORLANDO, RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BY FLATBED THEY INDICATED ALL FOUR TIRES NEEDED REPLACEMENT. AFTER CALLING JAGUAR LAND ROVER'S CUSTOM SERVICE CENTER, I WAS MADE AWARE THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF INCIDENTS INVOLVING THE PIRELLI CINTURATO P7, BUT WERE STILL INVESTIGATING. REFERENCE NUMBER 8000 650617. ASK FOR THE RECORDED CALLS ON 7/12/19 TO VALIDATE THEIR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. IN CONTRAST, PIRELLI'S CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER INDICATED THAT THEY HAVEN'T HEARD OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS WITH THIS TIRE. CASE TRACKING NUMBER 54717. IT IS MY RECOMMENDATION THAT THE NHTSA IMMEDIATELY INQUIRE WITH ALL PARTIES, SUBPOENA INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THE PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON THE JAGUAR XF, AND ANALYZE MY TIRES TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE TO DETERMINE IF THIS IS A WIDESPREAD DEFECT THAT NEEDS AN IMMEDIATE NATIONAL RECALL. MY REASON FOR INQUIRING WITH THE NHRSA IS TO ENSURE THE LIVES OF OTHER JAGUAR OWNERS AND BYSTANDERS DRIVING ON THESE TIRES ARE NOT AT RISK. PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE OUTCOME. THANK YOU!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JAGUAR XF. WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT FAILED TO PROVIDE A DIAGNOSTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,900.

π Understanding This Data
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is β but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Jaguar XF has 10 complaints on record across 10 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Jaguar XF has 7 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 1 of the Jaguar XF's 10 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions β a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the Reliability Verdict Calculated?
The reliability verdict (Good) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. This verdict gives buyers a quick interpretation before they review year-level details and VIN-level history. It should be treated as one decision input, not a substitute for a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable β simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Jaguar XF vehicles on the road β not any specific car. Two Jaguar XF vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage β NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Jaguar XF has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
