The picture
Is the Rolls Royce DAWN or Honda Accord more reliable?
A plain-English read on what the NHTSA record says about living with each vehicle.
Rolls Royce DAWN
The Rolls Royce DAWN is a low-volume luxury convertible that, based on NHTSA data, has no owner complaints filed over six years. It has two recalls, both for air bags, but no reported crashes, injuries, or deaths. For a buyer, this suggests that serious problems may be rare or simply not reported, but the lack of complaint text means you have little detail on what actually goes wrong in daily use.
Honda Accord
The Honda Accord is a high-volume family sedan with 4,438 complaints over ten years, averaging about 444 per year. The most common areas are the engine, electrical system, forward collision avoidance, and brakes. There are also 38 recalls and reports of 160 crashes, 144 injuries, and 3 deaths, so while many Accords serve reliably, a notable number of owners report significant safety-related issues.

What actually goes wrong
The problems owners report
The most-complained-about systems on each vehicle — what fails, and what owners say in their own words.
Rolls Royce DAWN
No component data available.
The only recall information for the DAWN involves air bags, with two separate recalls listed under that subject. While no owner complaints describe the exact failure, air bag recalls typically mean the system may not deploy correctly in a crash, so buyers should confirm both recalls were performed.

Owners report noises, loss of power, and multiple dashboard alarms while driving, including brake, hill descent, and ABS warnings. One complaint describes the vehicle losing speed and becoming unable to accelerate, which could leave a driver stranded or in a dangerous situation.
Complaints include a tire pressure warning followed by a catastrophic tire failure, and rodent damage to the camshaft position wiring harness on a nearly new car. These electrical gremlins can cause sudden failures or expensive repairs, even on low-mileage vehicles.
Owners report intermittent warnings for adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation, and automatic high beams. One complaint describes the system failing to resolve a threat, which matters because these features are meant to prevent crashes.
Brake-related complaints appear frequently, and one owner described alarms for brake, hill descent, and ABS along with critical failure messages. Brake problems are a direct safety concern, so any used Accord should have its braking system thoroughly checked.
“I purchased this vehicle at 0 miles in July 2025 from Honda Accord in Pensacola Florida. I reported in July 2025 that there was a noise and I was unhappy with the vehicle and would like to exchange the vehicle within the 30 days months later, the noise got lo…”

Buyer analysis
Rolls Royce DAWN or Honda Accord: which should you buy?
The Rolls Royce DAWN has far fewer reported issues per year—zero complaints on average versus about 444 per year for the Honda Accord. In practice, that means an Accord buyer is much more likely to find a history of owner-reported problems, while a DAWN buyer faces very little public complaint data but also less information about what might go wrong.
Key differences
- The DAWN has 0 complaints and 2 recalls, while the Accord has 4,438 complaints and 38 recalls over a longer period.
- Accord owners report engine noises, power loss, and multiple dashboard alarms; the DAWN has no owner complaint text to describe real-world failures.
- The Accord has 160 crash-related complaints, 144 injuries, and 3 deaths; the DAWN has none of these reported.
- Both vehicles have air bag recalls, but the Accord also has recalls for electrical, fuel, brake, and tire issues.
- Confirm that both air bag recalls have been completed by checking the VIN with a dealer or NHTSA.
- Since there are no owner complaints, ask for a full pre-purchase inspection focusing on the air bag system and any signs of prior accident damage.
- Listen for unusual engine noises and watch for warning lights related to brakes, ABS, or hill descent during a test drive.
- Check for electrical issues such as tire pressure warnings, rodent damage to wiring, and intermittent forward collision warnings.
Before you buy
- Run the VIN on both vehicles through NHTSA to confirm all recalls are closed.
- For the Accord, ask for service records and specifically check for engine, electrical, and brake repairs.
- For the DAWN, verify the air bag recall work and consider a pre-purchase inspection by a Rolls Royce specialist.
- Test drive the Accord at highway speeds to see if any dashboard alarms or power loss occur.
- For either car, have a mechanic inspect the brakes, tires, and electrical system before purchase.
