Owners report being bombarded with Takata recall notices, and after dealer service, the replacement airbag is incompatible with sensors, causing the airbag light to stay on. This means the airbag may not deploy correctly in a crash.
The right tail bulb assembly gets so hot it melts the plug and housing. Owners report that brake lights fail intermittently, causing following drivers to nearly rear-end them. The warning light comes on, but new bulbs also fail quickly.
A major electrical short in the trunk area disables tail lights, turn signals, and brake lights entirely. The trunk function also fails, leaving the driver without any rear lighting—a serious nighttime safety issue.

Owners report a noise from the engine shortly after purchase that worsens over time. More critically, the engine can suddenly lose power at highway speeds, triggering brake, ABS, and hill descent system warnings, and the vehicle slows down uncontrollably.
While driving on adaptive cruise control at 70 mph, the car suddenly loses all power and acceleration, including power steering. All dashboard warning lights flash (brake system, ACC, ABS, check engine, TPMS). This can cause a crash if it happens in traffic.
The system triggers phantom braking at 35 mph on an open road with no obstructions, causing a crash. In another case, the car lost drive power prior to a recall, leading to a collision. The dealer has been unable to resolve the issue.
