The Takata recall is the most frequent complaint: owners report being unable to get the driver-side inflator replaced for years, with the airbag warning light on and dealers saying parts are backordered. This means the airbag may not deploy or could explode in a crash.
After recall repairs for VANOS bolts (23V-707), owners report new problems: missing bolts retrieved from the oil pan, check engine lights, and drivetrain faults that did not exist before the service. The repair itself seems to introduce failures.
Owners report a strong burning odor while driving, with no warning lights, and the recall part for the PCV system is often unavailable for months, leaving the vehicle in a potentially unsafe condition.
