We have an airbag warning light that keeps coming on. It's been reset by a repair garage, but has returned this week. Techniction Stating the following: on technical service bulletin they state inspect and install a jumper harness in the front seats. Why do I have to reroute electrical. This should be a recall for repair because Chrysler has wired it incorrectly to start with. other information: symptom/condition: Right and left seat deployment squib 1 circuit open I am notifying you before a crash happens so all chyrsler 200 can be repaired.
Airbag light flashing, won’t go off! Lights under dash started blinking n radio only works on steering wheel sometimes, light blinks saying light bulb out but isn’t
The car is constantly needs a jump start , and the pedal will not accelerate. I have had multiple diagnosis and they don’t know what it is- the cruise control component comes on at the beginning of the jump start until the car runs. Auto Zone and Midas has checked the battery, alternator, did a draw and they can’t find the issue. When driving the pedal will not accelerate- may have to pull over, and restart- then it works, until you disengage the car. They charged me over 30,000.00 dollars for this vehicle and I’m still paying on it and I can’t even drive it because I feel unsafe, especially with the pedal. It’s too cold to get up and jump start a car every morning. I’m paying 460.54 every month for a car that I don’t know that’s wrong with it- I purchase a warranty and though I didn’t hit the mileage they said it expired because it was for three years. This should be illegal. I really need to drive to get things done. There’s no lights coming to indicate a problem, please assist. it kept [XXX] cutting off and the cruise control, then it stopped. Tried to connect with Chrysler they said they were backed up, only speed issues, like accelerating faster than the mileage, now since it got cold - it won’t even crank up without a jump start, but all things checked and the mechanics can’t find the reason saying it’s electrical. Do you think Chrysler OS messing with my car because that’s dangerous and this is stressful- I’ll send the police report need to find INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Engine stalls while driving and displays message that I need to shift to park to restart. This has happened several times. I have not taken it to a mechanic yet but stopped driving it because it is unsafe. * This problem is mentioned here several times.
Airbag warning light came on intermittently at first the remained on. Vehicle was taken to the dealer to be checked on 9/2/21. Dealer stated passenger seat airbag wiring harness was defective and replaced at a cost of $1179.29. 1/18/23 Airbag warning light steadily on. Dealer advised driver side airbag squib harness connector pins open. Replaced harness at no charge due to second incident with harness.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler 200. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where an unknown repair was completed. Additionally, the contact stated that the floor carpet was significantly wet. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that water was leaking inside the vehicle; however, the dealer informed the contact that they were unable to determine the source of the leak. The contact stated that the failure persisted and there was a puddle of water and mold on the floorboard. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,200.
While driving down the interstate my car jumped a little then I could not go above 20 miles and hour. Once I arrived to a safe location I turned off my engine and then restarted. It seemed ok, but during the incident there was a flash on my dash that said "CHECK THROTTLE". I took it to a service station and they ran a code check on the vehicle. They stated the following: 1. ECM (Engine Control Module) 2. TCM (Transmission Control Module) 3. ORC (Air Bag/Occupant Restraint) My car is a 2017 Chrysler 200 VIN [XXX]. It has 55,600 miles on it, actual miles. Due to these error codes the mechanic stated I need to take the car to a dealership to have them fixed. Car shuts off without warning when driving
I have been having trouble with my car for a while where it, most of the time, won’t start on the first try. I’ve been to my dealership multiple times and it just seems as if my car is declining after each session. I can’t even remote start my vehicle anymore. There will be times where I am stopped for a period of time and my car will stall and/or glitch out. The Stability Control and Electric Park Brake Trouble Indicators will come on as well as the Anti-lock Brake System Fault and Electric Power Steering Fault Indicators…All at the same time. I will be looking around for Auto Shops that I trust but later down the line, if there is no breakthrough, I will buy another vehicle.
For years now, my car has randomly, without notice, stalls, says “Shift To P” and goes limp. There’s nothing I can do in that moment besides try to get to safety before the car stops in the middle of the road. I’ve brought it in multiple times with no change or information as to what’s causing it. One dealership claimed I just needed an oil change which it didn’t but to prove my point, I brought it in after it stalled 2-3 days after an oil change. At this point, there’s been zero help or care. It’s only a matter of time until it causes an accident. Other owners definitely have this issue as well since they’re reported on here too. Any help? Or do all of us just lose money or potentially more…?
Airbag Warning Light came on intermittently at first and then remainder on. Vehicle taken to dealer to be checked on 9/2/21. Service department on 9/3/21 stated passenger seat wiring harness for airbags was defective and required replacement, Chrysler part #68395045-AA. They advised part was on backorder and it may take about 4 months to arrive.

The basics
Understanding this data
What is an NHTSA Complaint?
An NHTSA safety complaint is a report filed directly by a vehicle owner or driver describing a safety-related issue. Anyone can submit a complaint at NHTSA.gov. The number of complaints is a signal of how common a problem is — but complaints per model-year matter more than raw totals, since popular vehicles naturally receive more reports. The Chrysler 200 has 4,155 complaints on record across 7 model years.
What is a Safety Recall?
A safety recall is a mandatory campaign issued by NHTSA when a vehicle component poses an unreasonable risk to safety or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Unlike complaints (which are owner-reported), recalls are formally investigated and confirmed by regulators. Manufacturers must fix recalled vehicles free of charge. The Chrysler 200 has 24 recall campaigns in the NHTSA database.
What Are Crash Complaints?
Crash complaints are NHTSA filings where the owner indicates a crash occurred as part of the incident. 204 of the Chrysler 200's 4,155 complaints involved a crash. This metric is particularly important because it indicates how often defects resulted in actual collisions — a key safety signal beyond general reliability.
How Is the Reliability Verdict Calculated?
The reliability verdict (Poor) is generated by analyzing the vehicle's total complaints, recall history, crash complaint ratio, fire complaint ratio, and top component failures relative to class averages. This verdict gives buyers a quick interpretation before they review year-level details and VIN-level history. It should be treated as one decision input, not a substitute for a VIN-specific report.
Why Do Newer Years Have Fewer Complaints?
Newer model years appear to have fewer complaints because there has been less time for owners to file them. Complaints accumulate over years of ownership. A 2020 model year vehicle will typically show fewer complaints than a 2015 model year even if it is less reliable — simply because fewer owners have had time to report issues. Focus on complaints per year of market presence when comparing across model years.
Fleet Data vs. Individual VIN
Everything on this page reflects aggregated data across all Chrysler 200 vehicles on the road — not any specific car. Two Chrysler 200 vehicles of the same year can have very different histories: one may have been in three accidents and have an open recall; another may be clean. A VIN check gives you the individual car's history: accidents, title brands, odometer records, service history, and real-time recall status.
What Are NHTSA Investigations?
When NHTSA receives a pattern of related safety complaints, it opens a formal investigation. A Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is the first stage — NHTSA determines if a safety defect may exist. If evidence is strong, it escalates to an Engineering Analysis (EA), which can result in a mandatory recall. The Chrysler 200 has 0 investigations on record (0 active). Investigations listed above may have already led to the recalls shown on this page.
